Lovely second goal from France, I wasn't watching that much with hosting quizzes but I did manage to catch that, that's a good start to the tournament from the hosts and from what I saw, a respectable performance from Romania too.

Special goal from Payet there. Can't see France winning the tournament outright , their defense is very vulnerable. Good effort from Romania there. An average game there but a good goal from Payet.

That Payet goal was a stunner, a great opening game from both sides, after the poor first half. I can see Romania going through as well from this group, yet to see Albania and Switzerland play tomorrow.

Fantastic goal from Payet to win the match for France, I wonder what ML Hammer95 made of that :lol:

West Ham will do well to keep Payet if he has a good tournament, great goal!

 

Romania were like I thought they would be, France played well, but Romania were really unlucky. Think they will qualify still.

Great goal from Payet. However I did think France were slightly above average on the whole, a few sparks of brilliance but there wasn't anything that suggested to me other than those few moments that they were great.

 

My prediction was 3-1.

I can't see Payet at West Ham at all next season, a huge bid from Barca/PSG I can envisage...

I really hope Payet stays at West Ham. However if PSG cone calling I expect him to pounce on the opportunity.

Solid opening game despite a poor first half. France were a bit iffy following that first goal and I was a bit worried for them, but that Payet goal was beautiful and was more what we expected to see. Very solid from Romania too, especially for an opening game against the home nation (hell they were REALLY close to having the first goal of the tournament!).

They were! Was thinking it would be Brazil 2014 all over again where Croatia got the first goal (admittedly from a Brazilian player).

Well I personally hope he stays! Some of his stuff lit up the league last season but the international tournaments seem to massively inflate a player if they have a good one - I'm thinking James Rodriguez after the World Cup!

It's going to be an open tournament, while I think Germany/France/Spain are the standout teams, they're all easily beatable. It's not like 4-6 years ago where it was extremely difficult to beat Germany or Spain in an competitive game. All teams have their weak points, France's is definitely their defence.

Albania vs Switzerland doesn't look like an exciting game on paper but hopefully it will be one.

But the least exciting matches usually tend to be the polar opposite....

 

Unless you're talking about Nigeria vs Iran in the 2014 World Cup - that looked crap and ended up being the worst football match I ever watched.

Who doesn't love a day with 3 matches.

Can't wait for this one, I have a good feeling about it. It's also nice to see a new side at a major tournament with Albania.
