August 15, 20168 yr Just caught uo with the cycling. Hansen REALLY screwed up that elimination race  hoping Cav can get a medal in that Hoping for another all-British final in the women's sprint :)
August 15, 20168 yr Was very pleased to see Murray and Bolt both defending their titles last night (2 more to go please Usain!) A really great effort from del Potro though, what a comeback from him after dropping out of the world top 100. Incredible results in the gymnastics and golf too!! And a wonderful world record in the 400m from van Niekerk. Probably the best day of these Olympics. <3 And another gold medal today (this time in the DANCING HORSES from Charlotte Dujardin) puts us one gold medal clear of China again for now, two if you include a guaranteed Sailing gold! I doubt we're gonna hold this position for much longer but it's GLORIOUS while it lasts *.*

I doubt we're gonna hold this position for much longer but it's GLORIOUS while it lasts *.* Badminton and diving seem to be the ones people are saying that will put the Chinese back ahead of us. If we can keep pace with grabbing whatever golds we can in things like sailing and cycling we could have a shot at keeping it but we'll see, it's just nice to be in contention for the non-American winner spot.
August 15, 20168 yr I think second is probably going to end up being China again, unless Tom manages Gold and we bag a surprise one from Cavendish tonight, for example. Still another THIRD on the medal table and even being second at all is fantastic.
August 15, 20168 yr Laura Trott making this Omnium seem like a walk in the park over those last 2 events.

August 16, 20168 yr Team GB in the Cycling are doing so good. I just hope Becky James gets that gold, after all the setbacks she had in the past
August 16, 20168 yr Author So close in both races, Becky James just centimetres. The men's keirin halted twice because they false started. This is becoming a farce. No-one disqualified for overtaking the derny bike.
August 16, 20168 yr Author And after all that, Jason Kenny has won his 6th Olympic gold medal equalling Sir Chris Hoy's record. Brilliant. Both him and his fiancée Laura Trott now have 10 golds between them.
August 16, 20168 yr Third time lucky, awesome race, Jason Kenny for Sports Personality of the year :cheer:
August 16, 20168 yr Author Third time lucky, awesome race, Jason Kenny for Sports Personality of the year :cheer: Him, Whitlock and Trott for the Top3. Probably most likely Andy Murray.
August 16, 20168 yr Not long now before the words omnium and keirin go back into hibernation for the next four years.
August 16, 20168 yr Great evening for cycling! Can't say I've enjoyed watching it that much before but all the races I saw tonight were incredible. The tension in the last Kenny race was insane.
August 16, 20168 yr Author Did anyone hear about the French pole vaulter who compared getting booed by a partisan Brazilian fans when he took this vault to Jessie Owens?
August 16, 20168 yr An absolutely incredible evening for Team GB with double gold in the final night at the velodrome and then Chris Laugher getting an amazing silver medal in the hotly contested 3m diving. We've still got the Brownlee brothers, Mo Fahah and Tom Daley to go plus another definite gold in the sailing tomorrow and we have already surpassed the medal total of Beijing (50 vs 47). Just amazing and captivating viewing! BBC completely screwed up the News at 10, why they didn't move it over to BBC 2 is beyond me - 2 ended up showing about 6 short episodes of Coast in a panic to fill the schedule whilst the news team were delayed almost 90 minutes. That was after last night where they cut Cavendish's points race off halfway through to go to the news with no warning....
August 17, 20168 yr Jason Kenny was VERY lucky to not be disqualified in the keirin - not gonna complain though! Yesss for both him and Laura Trott (barely anyone coming close to challenging her across the whole omnium), and more brilliant results in the gymnastics. Amy Tinkler becoming an Olympic medallist before even getting her GCSE results  Also with Katy Marchant taking the bronze in the women's sprint, every single member of the British track cycling team has won at least one Olympic medal in Rio!
August 17, 20168 yr Someone from my uni won bronze in the men's 800m on Monday for the US, and someone else from my uni finished 10th in the men's pole vault for Canada (also on Monday). They've never had an athlete make the Olympics before and this year they get two representing two different countries :o
