I assume he means 1983 when the Lib/SDP Alliance got almost as many votes as Labour. Of course, thanks to FPTP, the Alliance got 23 seats and Labour 209.

She's certainly controversial, but not very good at knowing who was in power when... :P

What an utterly terrible policy. It’ll just deepen unmanageable debt — during a global pandemic and during the worst recession in our life times — for the poorest section of society. Beyond weak.

For god's sake. That's a policy that will hit the voters Labour needs to be helping - a very Tory policy to be demanding rent arrears from a section of society forecast to have severely limited supplies of money. :/

Do you mean they shouldn't pay back the arrears at all? I'd have thought allowing them longer was a good idea! No private landlord is just going to let them off the amount they owe. I think most will apportion it over the next few months to their monthly payments. Not demand it in one go.
