October 31, 20169 yr Is Robbie Williams Greatest Hits on offer somewhere for it to make such a big return. Elvis will easily end the week on number 2 and i would think Michael Buble will improve and end the week on number 3. It would be wonderful if Jack Savoretti can hold his current position or climb.Robbie's album has been reissued, with a new slipcase. No new tracks/it hasn't been updated or anything though, but yeah, I guess they're just cashing in on his promo and reminding people subconciously, that he exists in time for his new album next week!
October 31, 20169 yr And also it's Universal release, not Sony (as the new one) so they're just cashing
October 31, 20169 yr Indeed, already a higher sale than their last album opened with! :o When I bought tickets for their tour I got a CD & signed print (which their singer said he had 8,000 of to do). If they're included in sales then it probably explains it, if not then it's even more impressive.
October 31, 20169 yr It's hardly comparable, being a completely different genre of music... Just because Shoutout To My Ex and Closer are different genre's (for example), doesn't mean I can't have a preference  lol not that I care about PJ Harvey but she's a very critically acclaimed artist with a long career and Tove Lo is a basic alt poppy girl. But thanks for your opinion? We're all allowed to have a preference, eg I don't care whether you like Glass Animals or The Weeknd or think both are trash - I have my own interpretation on music and so do you ^_^
October 31, 20169 yr The Robbie album is just a repromotion. It's exactly the same as the 2004 release. Weird they'd rather push that again than the more comprehensive and up to date In And Out Of Consciousness. Or maybe they have another plan: to catch MJ' GH sales and come in Top-10. There is only 40k difference: 2.35M vs 2.31M http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/t...evealed__15397/ Edited October 31, 20169 yr by Better Man
October 31, 20169 yr Just because Shoutout To My Ex and Closer are different genre's (for example), doesn't mean I can't have a preference  Of course, I am not disputing that. I'm just pointing out it's a rather daft thing to say.
October 31, 20169 yr Really pleased to see 'Rockabye' Top 3 :D I'm beginning to think it might even have a chance of being a future #1 now!
October 31, 20169 yr Oh, big fall for Lady Gaga  Lady Gaga seems to have written off the UK, cancelling promo spots and not reducing the price of her singles. She crushed the competition in the US.
October 31, 20169 yr Just don't get it how Tove Lo, a household name that nearly everyone knows, can flop, yet someone I've never heard of in my entire life can 'get top 10'? Like I've not a clue who PJ Harvey is and she got to #1, yet AlunaGeorge are one of the more popular British acts yet they missed top 40? What? How does one top 20 album and what, three hits constitute a 'household name' Edited October 31, 20169 yr by Fangdrew
October 31, 20169 yr Indeed, already a higher sale than their last album opened with! :o Bruno back up to #6 is great  I'm astonished at The Courteeners opening at 21k, where are they being promoted? Winter Wonderland was one of my favourite tracks of last year  They seem to have a decent fanbase!
October 31, 20169 yr Elvis will easily end the week on number 2 and i would think Michael Buble will improve and end the week on number 3. I personally wouldn't count out Elvis' chances of the top spot, Album should be on course for between 35k and 40k which is not a given for James Arthur. James Arthur clear favourite but Elvis' compilation last year managed a second week at the top.
October 31, 20169 yr How does one top 20 album and what, three hits constitute a 'household name' maybe a household name for the average pop consumer however I suppose the album market is significantly different in terms of consumers.
October 31, 20169 yr The Robbie album is just a repromotion. It's exactly the same as the 2004 release. Weird they'd rather push that again than the more comprehensive and up to date In And Out Of Consciousness. It's almost as if they don't think including Rudebox would be a big advantage saleswise.
November 1, 20169 yr Or maybe they have another plan: to catch MJ' GH sales and come in Top-10. There is only 40k difference: 2.35M vs 2.31M http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/t...evealed__15397/ Also interestingly they have increased the price of 'In And Out of Conciousness' to £17.99 & £19.99 seemingly to discourage sales of that while the 'Greatest Hits' gets a push.
November 1, 20169 yr Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but PJ Harvey's music is far more unique and artistic than Tove Lo's. That's not a criticism of her music, but you can't say it's unlike anything you've ever heard.
November 1, 20169 yr Tove Lo should had released a 2nd single proper when they saw that Cool Girl was struggling, the song was ok-ish but not a killer single ala Stay High, flop single usually translates in flop album, especially in Q4 pretty stupid to compare Tove Lo and PJ Harvey cos in a way you're comparing genres, not artists....
November 1, 20169 yr just checked and Courteneers first week total for their last album was 16,953 copies in August 2014, so they've already beaten that and some more
November 1, 20169 yr Also interestingly they have increased the price of 'In And Out of Conciousness' to £17.99 & £19.99 seemingly to discourage sales of that while the 'Greatest Hits' gets a push. It's £10.99 and £17.99 on Amazon.
November 1, 20169 yr Saw it today for £8 in Asda. Looks like it's a re-issue with the tracks in a slightly different order. £5.99 on Google Play and £6.99 on iTunes will be helping Robbie as well...
