February 26, 20178 yr Well Oliver's part of our """"""""""clique""""""""""" and DNQd, for one  You can't blame cliques for people doing well. Some people just know how to pick a song for BJSC, it's not really THAT difficult a lot of the time. Some people just have tastes that align really well with BJSC. As has been said before, when BJSC was done anonymously, the "bloc" voting was still evident, so it's similar tastes coming together.
February 26, 20178 yr It was a long time ago. So long ago it was actually the contest I hosted after Molly landed Ashton our debut and only win!!!  But yeah. It was put to bed. Every now and then there are voting patterns that raise an eyebrow but when we've looked into it a little more nothing came of it.  We also experimented one month without anyone's knowledge when the mods actually manipulated the semi draw to segregate "voting blocs". It had no statistically significant effect on the outcome of the semis so we didn't repeat it
February 26, 20178 yr I wasn't able to Skype my way to the final though :'(Â (I am thinking it will be a MUNA win btw)
February 26, 20178 yr The only thing I think happens with "cliques" is probably giving certain songs priority in listening, which I admit to doing. But that's not necessarily a "clique" thing, I think it's just to do with tastes. Like I'm naturally more excited for countries who align taste wise with me such as Yehesi or Hushkanukia, they just happen to be my friends on the site too. But it's the same for countries I vote for a lot like say Daehun or Ashton, and they're posters I'm not as close to personally.
February 26, 20178 yr I think that's completely natural. I always look forward to seeing what Erik or Freeze put out each month even though I only point them about half the time. I always try to go in with an open mind but I'll freely admit that a country that I usually hate surprising me usually gets them a little bump in the rankings to the upper end of the songs in that range.
February 26, 20178 yr I don't even tend to notice which countries send which entries when I give them a listen, I rank my songs then see what was sent by who - it alsways tends to surprise me who I've pointed!
February 26, 20178 yr I wasn't able to Skype my way to the final though :'(Â (I am thinking it will be a MUNA win btw) You and OLiver were their sacrificial hens this month to try and convince the voting public that they don't decide what wins every month :') We see right through those shady tactics though~ Â :P
February 26, 20178 yr Poor Pavel blaming his floppiness on others, or is the floppage just FAKE NEWS? It's so hard to keep up with the conspiracies these days. Â
February 26, 20178 yr I don't think Troll will win (although it would be a fantastic win but I hope it can do well)Â On the otherhand I'm slightly underwhelmed by my odds this th but then again I was thrilled to qualify in the first place. I assumed it would end up being a dnq
February 26, 20178 yr I get what Pavel is saying regarding ODDS though. I won't finish higher because I'm "Hendinia", there's no reason why I would, it's not like I'm the most popular poster on the site or even close, but perhaps it feels safer to predict me to do well with a dated track because I've got history of doing well, than perhaps it would to predict Tartford to do so. But I ultimately think I'll get the exact same result in the final as any country would with it and I don't think that will be anywhere close to the win   Enjoying the discussion tho, I enjoy being relevant x
February 26, 20178 yr I would like to see a contest without odds threads. I think that without hypetrains these results would often look v different.
February 26, 20178 yr Troll is rly shit tho I'm surprised you don't like it, it sounds like an even worse K3 to me
February 26, 20178 yr I would like to see a contest without odds threads. I think that without hypetrains these results would often look v different. People would still hype their favourite songs, removing odds threads would make very little difference to that. To completely remove any possible bias (though I don't personally believe these things affect the outcome of the contest) you'd need to remove odds/predictas/stop people commenting and hyping songs in any threads and would have to stop people commenting/wooting/meh'ing songs on Plug. All of the above generates hype.
February 26, 20178 yr omg yes SAY MORE it's anembarassment to BJSCÂ I'm surprised you don't like it, it sounds like an even worse K3 to me  It could never be as good as K3
February 26, 20178 yr I would like to see a contest without odds threads. I think that without hypetrains these results would often look v different. First few contests didn't have them and tbh the odds thread makes things better. We get more discussion and it adds another element to the competitive side of BJSC
February 26, 20178 yr besides, banning discussion and hype would make the contest a lot less exciting to follow plus it still wouldn't remove all biases.
February 26, 20178 yr I really feel like removing the hype/discussion element of the contest would make the whole thing so much duller too. Part of the fun of following the results live is watching some of the hyped contenders flop (unless it's your own entry!) and songs that nobody has talked about snatching a top ten finish! Â Of course some months everything goes to plan and there are very few shocks, but that's the nature of making predictions.
February 26, 20178 yr it's anembarassment to BJSC It could never be as good as K3Â I know, it's even worse than that turd dropping x
