BBHMM did a lot better than this!! I do think it can be saved in the UK at least but in America they've probably done the right decision. Opening less than I Don't :(

Tbh, that is what this era is reminding me of. And I thought BBHMM did so much worse than it actually did haha. I remember people saying Rihanna was "ova!!1!×#1" because BBHMM didn't go top 10/have instant success... off the back of a big hit.

I understand that doesn't explain why they've pulled the plug on this. They really haven't given this a chance at all and that's why I'm annoyed. Haha. So infuriating. Like Joe said, this is the first time she's not promoted the hell out of a pre-album song first week!

I don't get where everybody's gone, though? Surely she has more than 18k fans in the US?!
69 is awful!

Oh I dunno about that... ;)

Still loving this CHOON though.

If it's scrapped in the US already then she probably won't perform it on SNL in two weeks. Kind of like Gaga not bothering with Perfect Illusion on her SNL slot even though it'd only been out for a few weeks.

If so, would Katy debut two new songs in the same night? I can't see her doing CTTR but who knows.

Why do all her fans necessarily have to like it or buy it?

Quite selfishly, I'm hoping she drops this ASAP and acts like it never happened with a new smash single in a couple of weeks. I know it has chance to grow in the UK but if it's not even going to get a video due to no US release then she may as well just not even bother. I mean she had SIX #1s in the US during the Teenage Dream era and then two #1s with the Prism era which is still good. To go down to a #4 and #69 or whatever with the next is a little embarrassing. She just needs to bring it with the next release and then I think this can be swept under the carpet but I am worried for her career at the moment tbh

Katy is no longer in her imperial phase though, she's not going to get #1s easily ever again. Pretty much every artist gets to this point at some point, and as Haus said on the previous page, I think fans sometimes need to ajust to that reality to be able to enjoy the fact they're releasing music they want to release.

It may have had a much stronger rollout, but #4 for Chained is still fantastic, the pop girls don't get #1s very easily anymore. Gaga and Ariana's era peaks were #4s too. And underwhelming as it is, there's no way Bon Appétit would have peaked in its first week if they continued to push it, especially with Billboards, Carpool Karaoke, SNL, Music video promo planned. A new replacement single, no matter how good it is, isn't going to magically do any better than this, unless she actually pushes it a lot harder than she's done so far with, she isn't the name that she was, she can't drop a single and expect it to sit at #1 automatically anymore.

I was meaning stans. The defensive ones who will buy anything she does. I was sure that she'd have more?

This is going to be her ANTI isn't it? Bet this won't even appear on the album.

They really need to re-think her strategy.

A lot of this might be true, but a replacement single could do better because this hasn't had a great reaction, we've all surely seen a lot of hate for it online. Promo may help but things really don't bode well right now, and the fact she's not at her imperial phase anymore doesn't excuse that - I don't think anyone expected this to storm to #1, but top 10 on iTunes on day 1 and hanging around the top 40 by the end of the week is what I expected (in the US, it's done the second part in the UK tbf). It really has a long way to go to become a hit and I'm not convinced it's gonna be anything more than a minor hit both sides of the pond, a la Run Up for example.

I don't know how to feel about this. It's obviously absolute TRASH but i can't help but bop along to it.

What's happened to her, she used to release such great gems but since the presidential elections, she doesn't care and even coming across as unlikeable with her comments about Britney's breakdown and that terrible Miley Cyrus haircut and it's even affected her music, who honestly thought that 'Bon Appetite' was a strong single, it's terrible and ranks as one of her worst along with 'Rise', she's just given up.

Not really looking forward to her new album, despite 'CTTR' being quite decent, but even that's nowhere near her best.
