I think 20k is respectable sales in this climate, most artists struggle to sell that on many weeks, even debut week. If you look at Zara Larsson, an act who is very big right now cant manage those sales on debut week which is an album with loads of hit singles.

Take That do not sell nearly aswell as they used to and their sales have falling, i wouldnt deny that, but that is to be expected at this point of their career, 2 million plus sales on every album was always going to come to an end. Take That are among the very few acts that can achieve these kinda sales 25 years into their career.

Assuming Take That do limp to 20k this week, that will be a massive 82% drop from week one.

If we want to compare with the likes of Zara Larsson her Sales dropped by less than 50% in week 2.

Zara is someone who is still gaining new fans but clearly Take That are more of a fanbase Act that are still trying to hang on to their old fans.

If 'Swalla' could become a legit hit after reaching top 40 this week, that'd be great!!
Take That need another Patience or The Flood, all their singles after The Flood had been ok but nothing wow

This isn't exactly news though.

Exactly but on last week's Predictions thread there was talk of dropping to 30k-35k Sales this week, challenging the top spot when Promotion kicks in and initial Sales being more than fanbase Sales. The goalposts seem to have changed this week to 20k being a respectable total.

Take That never had promotion lined up for week 2, that sales prediction was a mistake as the promotion is all coming in week 3, so a sales prediction of 30-25k applies to next week as they have promotion lined up.
To be fair to Take That - the massive fall is (in part) an artefact of it being a week after the Mother's Day effect and really extensive promo. Still it doesn't bode well for it selling much in the long run.
But seriously there was a lot of preorders for take that week 1 you can't say its purely dowb to mothers day they would have sold similar anytime of the year well around 100k anyway
