Yeah - 99% sure Harry will be #1 today but it COULD be close overall, depending on how quick Clean Bandit gain on iTunes. Either way I reckon Symphony will be #1 next week.

Good to see we're actually getting an interesting period for #1 songs at last.

I would love to have Clean Bandit at #1 next week as that will be my Birthday #1 track for 2017, please make it happen. :D

Minty:

Harry Styles is going to sell quite a lot less in week 1 than Zayn did with Pillowtalk, his streaming seems pretty low by comparison.

He is however preventing Galway Girl from being number 1 as it has finally got ahead of Shape Of You but only to 2.

In fact Galway Girl has more competition from Clean Bandit than Shape Of You.

I think Harry will be around 70-80k by the end and Galway was 60k last week. I'd like the excitement of being wrong though.

Predicting...

1. Harry Styles [38k]

2. Ed Sheeran (GG) [27.1k]

3. Clean Bandit [26.9k]

4. Ed Sheeran (SOY) [24.7k]

Pillowtalk sold 112K in week one so this is no great surprise.

Surely, greater than 65K total will be enough to secure top spot this week.

I don't think that's a big enough lead to secure the number 1 come Friday especially with the iTunes lead diminishing by the hour and how far in front 2,3 and 4 are on spotify.

what lead? we don't know the lead
This is going to be an interesting week and we are already on the 4th page with no mids.

mdh's post is a prediction :P

It is welcoming to see we may have a battle for number 1. I wouldn't be disappointed with either result from the front runners.

Doesn't Shape of You have at least 130,000 more daily streams than Galway Girl when all its Spotify formats are combined? I also don't think the Harry Styles track will appeal to his old 1D audience, which may be why it struggles on streams

I do agree it's great to have a chart battle for a change (have been following BJ and the charts for years even though I have only just got round to registering)

Lol these are on Popjustice now being called the midweeks

I wish GG picked a better week to finally overtake SOY, it really deserves a run at the top spot!!

!!!!!!!

Also, on the topic of your predictions mdh, these were where things stood last Monday:

1 Ed Sheeran - Shape of You (23,684)

2 Ed Sheeran - Galway Girl (23,265)

3 Clean Bandit feat. Zara Larsson - Symphony (20,820)

Both Ed songs are surely a bit lower, while Symphony has probably increased a bit, so Harry's probably got a solid lead at this point?

I predict that Harry is on around 42K so far (on for maybe 80K by the end of the week) with “Shape Of You”, “Symphony” and “Galway Girl” all on/around 20K.

Must be galling for Harry and 1D fans for him to be selling so much less than Zayn when he was seen as the leader and Zayn as the betrayer for leaving.

Speaking as a 1D fan, I don't think the core fans really see things like that at all :kink: especially as a lot of them are still Zayn fans. Zayn just has a way more commercial song, that's all there is to it really.
