Angélique Kidjo) 00 (16th) Lotunia // Ágy - Arvedávgi 00 (17th) Bhangra // Audrey Gallagher and Kaimo K - Lullaby 00 (18th) Ojnoj // Jessie Reyez - Gatekeeper 00 (19th) St. Burbia // Billie Eilish - Bellyache SPIEL: Our top 2 are both spooky and enchanting bangers, we originally had Terra Avium as our favourite from semi 1 but Espen has ended up being our favourite quite comfortably after sounding even more incredible on repeat listens, perhaps in our all-time Espen top 3 alongside As Animals and Team Rockit :wub: so thrilled that it qualified despite its awful semi-final draw, and yas at us probably putting it in an early lead if these votes are being presented in order of receipt xx Aeroche's Scatman John 90s bop takes the bronze medal, while the top 5 is completed by an absolutely gorgeous track from our faves Jadakissnia and the best BJSC drum n bass entry for quite some time from Aelandor, the vibes ~~ Then double figure points to the demented weirdness of Pupok too cos why the hell not tbh, PC Music on point this month even making a dog song sound good. Another #instrumentalbloc choon from Séyetana takes our 9 points, second time in a row we've given them 9 ~ Our 8 points could have so easily been 18 (ok actually maybe 15, Espen was that much of a tune), 'Ambling Alp' is an old favourite in Persephonia but we decided to dock it just a little bit to make way for a few more discoveries, still the most points we've given Azure to date and another brilliant indiepop choon from Yeasayer if not quite as perfect as 'O.N.E.' x Another epic beauty from Bergersen et al takes 7 points for Kluminican Republic (woulda been more if it was longer!!!) and sneaking into our top 10 is an 80s vibe from S DNLD. #00274E were originally ranked just low top 20 after our first listen of semi-final 2, jumped up to 12th on second listen and now has ended up getting 5 points from us in the final, an absolutely huge grower (on par with Dobago, RIP), reminding us a bit of Best Coast but a little more electronic-y. More synthy goodness from FARC and Suedeonia (feat. a little help from quen and saviour Lorde) also take a few points, final comeback kids Skall poke in with their Clean Bandit-before-they-went-too-mainstream sounding track and YES, Cor Lupus get their first points (well, point) of the year with another big grower of a track which was outside our top 10 of semi-final 1. There's only so much we can resist a good afrobop after all. Lotunia fall frustratingly just short of getting points from us in their debut contest (after they were just outside our points in the Asian spinoff as well eek! sorry NocheLuna :lol:), Bhangra also just a tiny bit short of their first points from us, and two more big growers from Ojnoj and St. Burbia also make it as official commiserations. If we wanted to go crazy and list a billion commiserations, the next few tracks which were also really good were République d'Ashton, Thelonia (yet another huge grower, originally second last for us in semi 2!!), Oslol and Unovia.
