Jorja Smith getting a solo seems an odd choice, seeing as she's virtually unknown in the UK, but good for her.
I presume those names I don't recognise are all X-Factor contestants or something.

The only X Factor contestants on there are Louisa Johnson, James Arthur and Liam & Louis from One Direction.

I think all of the acts recorded a line each and then they picked the best ones and the ones they wanted to use. I saw a behind the scenes where Pixie Lott said she had just been in to record her line and was hoping it got used, so I would imagine Jorja managed to get a solo merely on the quality of her vocals.

Loved Get It Together from the Drake album, was the only one I liked from it, largely because of her jazzy voice on that song.

But presumably they all sang on the 'choir' bits?

Sorry if already been discussed, but guessing there are no current plans for it to be released physically?

I think the days of charity singles are over. Maybe #1 on iTunes but wouldn't be surprised if it missed the top 10 altogether. There are better ways to support the victims than buying this

Lol #1 after 1 day. Also there are other ways to support victims but this is one way which is a great way. Also the donation page alone has reached £225K already. This is keeping it in the public eye and in the forefront of peoples minds leading to further donations. Great idea.

Released at 8am yesterday (June 21), the all-star rendition of Simon & Garfunkel's track has already shifted 120,000 across downloads and streaming equivalent sales - the biggest opening day figure for a single this decade.

That's it.

is that really the biggest this whole decade? did Military Wives or any of the XF winners not do better?

Didn't James Arthur's Impossible (2012) sell 187,000 on its first day?

I'm guessing the sales of this will mostly all be downloads and small amount of streams (its been the case with previous charity songs IIRC). I'm doubtful if it will go to number one, especially as its only had a few days sales. Wherever it peaks it will probably dive bomb out of the chart. I predict no.2, 5 weeks on the chart

There is absolutely no way it's gonna miss #1 :kink: plus it's top 50 on Spotify, a remarkably good start for a song of this kind! (not that this will be included in the midweek figure from the OCC)

What about the fact it's confirmed to have done 120k in its first day?

I just looked back to figure this out and technically it didn't. It was released on Sunday evening after the final (as with all winning singles), and the 187k figure covers Sunday evening and the whole of Monday, so it's more than a day!

I posted this in the FCP thread but I'll post here too:

I've just done a bit of research and it looks like the OCC have overlooked the first day sales of Band Aid 30. It was up for pre-order on the Sunday, the video was shown the same day on X Factor and caused iTunes to crash until Monday afternoon. Band Aid was released at 8am on the Monday and was revealed in the Tuesday mids as selling 206k in its first day of release.
