July 1, 20177 yr Omg I'm so jealous! Good luck getting tickets - you shall have to let me know how 'Chicago' was if you get tickets for that, I imagine 'Cell Block Tango' live would be epic *.*Yes, Chicago and 'Cell Block Tango' in particular are fantastic live!! I've also seen Beauty And The Beast and maybe one or two others, would love to see more because I'm very much a fan of musical films! (And School of Rock is a huge fave so consider me jealous! :o)
July 2, 20177 yr Author Wicked was SO GOOD, had an absolute blast. I loved the nods to the original film and how it all pieced together. I am *sure* there are several plot flaws when you put it all together but it didn't really matter too much. Glinda is a f***ing bitch, always knew it. DEFYING GRAVITY WAS SUCH A *.* MOMENT Need to book The Lion King imminently tbh ~
July 2, 20177 yr Glad you enjoyed it Bal! Wicked is one of my favourites and I really want to see it again, Defying Gravity is just perfection *.*
July 2, 20177 yr I'm partial to a good musical. My faves that I've seen live are Blood Brothers, Wicked, Groundhog Day and Guys and Dolls (though that one mainly because Rebel Wilson was in it)
July 2, 20177 yr Never used to be, a fan of musicals but I've seen Miss Saigon and Joseph And His Amazing Techicolour Dreamcoat with Joe McElderry playing him. Would HMS Pinafore count, although that's more opera isn't it?
July 2, 20177 yr Forgive me for this but I don't think I've ever actually been to see a musical :o I only tend to go to the theater with my family for the Christmas one, they insist I come with them  Edited July 2, 20177 yr by Andrew.
July 30, 20177 yr I'm going to see Wicked for the first time in like over 5 years in 3 days!!! So excited <3 (after I've seen it again I'll do my essay post on musicals  )
October 17, 20177 yr Officially booked in for The Lion King in March!! AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Enjoy it! It's still my personal favourite of all of the musicals I've seen live yet. I think you'll be completely WOWED by the visuals and the way they portray the animals *-* Went to see Monty Python's Spamalot the other day and actually really enjoyed it. I was a bit ignorant of what Monty Python was even about so I was pleased when I realised it was Knights of the Round Table themed and the humour was right up my street so I found myself laughing a fair bit. Just booked to see Blood Brothers in Sunderland in December so I'm very excited to see it. I saw a bit of a shoddy production of it years ago and loved the story so I'm very excited to see it again with slightly more professional actors :heehee:
October 18, 20177 yr Love musicals! <3 I used to see one every couple of months when I was a student, my friends and I have had some great discounted tickets by going to theatres/ticket booths on the day that we wanted to see something! Favourites (off the top of my head) would be 'The Bodyguard' (I've seen this twice; once in the front row with Beverley Knight playing Rachel Marron), 'Legally Blonde' (this NEEDS to make a comeback!) and 'Wicked' (obvs). I'm going to see 'Hamilton' in February 2018 which I cannot WAIT for! I also really need to see 'The Book of Mormon' but have never tried to get tickets for it.
April 9, 20205 yr 'Hamilton' is at the VERY TOP of my list now that I've seen 'The Lion King', which was absolutely wonderful! Now that I've been given a refund for BST Hyde Park, I might look into getting 'Hamilton' tickets.
April 9, 20205 yr Dear Evan Hansen was the last thing I saw, and whew a masterpiece :cheeseblock: I finally had Hamilton tickets and was gonna see & Juliet as well over Easter break but thanks to Ms Corona :) 😭
April 9, 20205 yr I went to see 'Waitress' last summer when it had both Lucie Jones and Ashley Roberts in the cast! It was amazing and "She Used To Be Mine" is such a great signature song. Such a shame that they don't know if the West End production will be able to re-open at all :( (it was meant to be closing in either June or July anyway - hopefully I'll be able to catch it again on tour)
April 9, 20205 yr My new contribution to this thread is that The Book Of Mormon is EVERYTHING! Was due to see the touring production in June but that's been rescheduled to next April so if it's coming to a theatre near you next year then please go see it!
April 9, 20205 yr I'm going to see The Book Of Mormon. It's currently August for us so I'm hoping everything will be back up and running by then, but doubtful! I've heard nothinf but good things!
April 18, 20205 yr The Shows Must Go On! A YouTube channel ran by Universal is uploading official full stage shows every Friday 7pm BST for 48 hours to entertain people while they #stayhome! A really great idea honestly. The first week they had Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, then last week was Jesus Christ Superstar, and this weekends stage show is The Phantom of the Opera! This may not be for everyone’s taste obviously but definitely worth sharing! They’re also uploading clips and teasers to each musical Edit: I commented that here but perhaps it warrants its own thread? @mods
April 18, 20205 yr Watched Jesus... last week and Phantom just now. Haven't seen either but have been strongly harassed by my friends to watch them! Much preferred Phantom to Jesus - not being funny I already knew the story before I watched Jesus Christ Superstar  Knew a bit of the music from figure skating programs so I did enjoy parts!
April 19, 20205 yr My fave live musicals (as opposed to film musicals): Jersey Boys Spamalot The Sound Of Music Bat Out Of Hell Priscilla Queen Of The Desert films: Jesus Christ Superstar The Sound Of Music Calamity Jane Grease Mary Poppins Returns (yes honestly) Rocky Horror Picture Show
February 8, 20232 yr I'm booked in for '& Juliet' for 25th March (the last day on West End for it </3) and a 2nd time for 'Hamilton' in May! 'Hamilton' is incredible. I can't recommend it enough! I've seen a few since 2018 now. I've only really disliked 'The Book of Mormon' and 'We Will Rock You'. TBOM is literally racist... like... how did that get revived as it is for todays audiences!? Idk what I expected "from the makers of 'South Park'" but we just felt really uncomfortable and awkward watching it. Wasn't a pleasant experience at all :( 'Hamilton' 'The Lion King' 'Les Mis' 'Waitress' --- 'Dear Evan Hansen' 'Beauty & The Beast' 'Aladdin' --- 'The Book of Mormon' 'We Will Rock You' My to see list now consists of: - 'Wicked' - 'Jersey Boys' - 'Phantom of the Opera' - 'Frozen' - 'Heathers' - 'Six'
