Prior to this contest we had awarded them 12 points on two occasions - BJSC 75 (for 'Push') and BJSC 88 (for their AQ 'Way Of Life'). 'Weekends' would have been our 12 in the other semi and it has not fallen in our affections at all, it was just a case of another song in that semi growing even more. Anyway, this is way better than I ever remember 'People' being from the one time I heard it. This infectious and catchy ("I've got all my friends" has not left my head very much this week) delight is our tip for the win. 15 Kluminican Republic | Burial - Archangel Klum Rep are another country that find themselves in our medal positions for the first time! Their previous best was an 11 for 'Lone Digger'. We did not know much of Burial prior to this contest except for their brilliant song in the Xmas spinoff. This was once again a slice of genius but it was just on a whole other level. *.* It was an extremely easy 12 in the semi and just missed out on our 18 due to the growing power of FLJ. Still, this is an excellent place to land - we cannot resist the garage vibes of this one and hope it does well tonight for the nation. #indiebloc rise!! 18 Fljótavík | UNKLE - Looking for the Rain (feat. Mark Lanegan & ESKA) Here we do actually have a country that have received a medal position from us before, but this is still an 18 for the first time so congrats FLJ! Their previous best was a 15 from us for 'Anekdoter'. So, we discovered UNKLE last year thanks to Mr D* himself (following a recommendation in my NMTBJ thread) and absolutely loved the work of them/DJ Shadow. Naturally we were VERY excited when we saw UNKLE in semi 2 as a result! First listen the Jadakissnian thoughts were all over the place - we loved the cinematic and sinister feel of 'Looking for the Rain' (those strings are just EVERYTHING *.*) but the vox were a bit unexpected and not entirely instant. So we would have 'only' given this 7 points if we had been in semi 2. Thankfully it has all clicked into place since that first listen and we just adore every element of this song now. Simply goosebump inducing. We hope that it gets a fair amount of medal positions chucked at it! Jadakissnia over and out.
