I don't think so, but if Dua makes New Rules 59p, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it jumped into the top 10.

I like PW's parts and love Big Sean's rap especially as well as the production, but I don't think you can deny that Katy sings the main hook and her name being on the track is quite a draw for a lot of people.

Yeah exactly, anyone could have sung Katy's part really (and as has been discussed elsewhere others would have suited the song better!)

I'm sure Katy's name has generated a few sales for the song, but I'd say the main selling point of the song is Calvin. He's a huge name at the moment, bigger than all the featured artists anyway.

Yeah it's great to see a song with Katy on it doing well but as pointed out it's highly likely it would be doing this well regardless as pointed out if she was why can't she shift her solo material but yay for Katy

The entire Witness era didn't flop though? Her lead single debuted top 10 and is still one of the highest selling singles of the year by a female artist? I think Calvin and Katy's names together intrigued a lot of people. Obviously it's a good song too.

 

I don't think anyone can claim her name is not a draw anymore because Bon Appetit didn't do very well and Witness fell totally under the radar. She had one of the biggest crowds at Glastonbury and was the 5th most watched performance on iPlayer despite not behing a headliner, so she still clearly generates interest with the public.

Yeah I don't think the whole era flopped; Chained to the Rhythm did well and would've got a higher peak had there not been the Ed flood on the charts - however it hang around for a fair while.

 

I think Bon Appetit was just a misfire especially being the single just before the album was released.

Anyone could sing Katy's part, but that's also true of Pharrell's part imo. Katy sounds great on the chorus imo and has the most name power of the three features, so I'm sure she's generated SOME interest at least.

 

Plus what Joe said about Witness. It has 100% underperformed but let's not discredit it entirely.

Another 3% gain for Dua in one single update, with no reason. Today I'm hoping she will be up to B-List and she's doing amazing on Spotify and 18 already on I Tunes. The best pop song of the year easily.

Last night Dua was (in a very rare move) moved up on Capital's D list (which is very rare plays) to their H list, which is nearer the top of their rotation, so her airplay has been much higher as of today. Usually artists go to A before moving up to H.

The main selling point of "Feels" is the instrumental I think. The instrumental on it's own could make the song do well.

Funny how much Dua has struggled to get hits in the past (particularly her last one, 'Lost in Your Light') but seems to be getting one so easily with a post-album single (ie an area where most struggle)!! Just shows the strength of a hit song and a great video.

Indeed, I thought she'd have 1 maybe 2 flop post album singles and move onto the next campaign. I could actually see this being her biggest hit yet.

I'm glad Dua will likely get a big hit close to the end of the album campaign. As long as she doesn't take ages with the next album, she could have a great second album era.
