The charts have been so predictable and boring for ages. Let people enjoy it.

Exactly  I hate that people aren't allowed to enjoy female pop songs without people being like "omg shock Buzzjack stanning a female!11!!!!", it's quite patronising  There are people who do it for a lot of dance songs or a lot of urban songs, I wouldn't say that to them, people like what they like. When we've had 3 months of Despacito and countless other weeks of Bieber and Ed Sheeran, a pop song that we like geting to #1, not mention a new female artist on her 7th single, is incredible. I don't even care for the chart much these days but this sort of thing always makes me check back.

There is a much different feel to threads like this when its this type of song doing well though, compared to if a dance or R&B song was. That's all the original poster was getting at.
lol wut. This is nothing like the dance tracks that were around in 2004. 2013/14 yeah, but it's refreshing to see this doing well. (Although it is back down to #6. The Script performed on Sunday Brunch)

Yeah I would agree, although there was a deep house hit that year, Give It Way by Deepest Blue, but it doesn't sound anything like this!

No one has said you cant enjoy it but just gets a bit samey if most of the thread is taken over by posters cheerleading a particular artist. Always good to have a wide range of opinions and different talking points.

All the hype here for Dua Lipa to get #1 is just a culmination of all sorts of different things though to be fair  First solo female #1 for almost a year, first #1 for Dua Lipa, post-album single going against all odds and storming the charts, New Rules coming basically right after two songs which had 10+ weeks at #1 each, a very popular music video, and the list goes on. The argument about dance or R&B songs not getting as much position reception on this site is very true, but I think a major factor in that is simply because pop songs like this appeal to a broader audience when compared to songs such as Unforgettable, Wild Thoughts, or even Despacito.

Exactly

It's a proper moment for people who like this sort of pop, it's been absolutely AGES since a #1 like thus with all these factors has been a serious #1 contender. Nobody is stopping other opinions posting, people have said they don't like the song, people are saying they want Pink #1 instead but like both, some people like neither. If it's that repetitive and boring to read don't bother lmao, it's much better to have activity and a buzzing atmosphere than "oh Despacito is #1 again, and the script have gone up 0.0001%!11!"

Oh dear lord at the fact we can't show appreciation for something that is dance/urban in this thread now.

Stop being so rude, people are allowed to support a song.

What's rude about worriyng for the heart health of people?

Don't Let Go is one of my all time faves but this remix is such a banger, idk what it is because normally I would't like it and it's nothing that revolutionary, but I just really like it and it keeps growing!
Pink is on the rise again, only less than 6% for the whole day gain for Dua. It's gonna be super close.

But those three songs are some of the most widely loved by the general public this year? And Despacito has appealed to a much broader audience than Dua Lips could ever wish for.

It's not, Dua's streaming more than makes up for the iTunes gap :P P!nk will be a comfortable #2 imo.

I would love p!nk to go to number 1 but number 2 is great for her!

To be honest she's had a lot stronger singles that deserved to go to number 1

I am a huge Pink fan. The Dua song is decent.

This is nothing compared to when the Saturdays used to release a single :D

Plus I think it's exciting that the sixth single from an album looks set to top the chart in a very stale climate at the top. Also the song is a banger!

Can't really use the 6th single excuse when the album was a pretty massivr flop

it's not been a flop, done pretty decently

Buzzjack's ALWAYS been supportive of female artists. That isn't going to change. I don't see why people can't talk about how much they want Dua number 1 or how much they would like Pink to get it instead. We actually have a chart battle! So obviously it's going to get people talking and it's even more special due to the fact we've not had a female number 1 for 9 months, so of course we're gonna be buzzing/supporting P!nk and/or Dua!

It happens. Shouldn't be an issue. It's a forum for us to express our views on stuff like this.

Much rather see those posts rather than that the constant one place movements we get for songs which are either over/had their time or not gonna break out for a while.

It's just exciting when a technical 9th (!) attempt in 2 years has finally given a much loved artist on here a proper and successful hit, especially when reaching No. 1 has become nearly impossible for any artist, let alone a British female. It's nearly been 2 years since one actually topped the chart in their own solo right and that was Adele!! Then you counter into the fact that it didn't even look like Dua's album would even be released for a large period of time, I don't think anyone would have expected Dua get a No. 1 single, even a few weeks ago. Plus the fact its a well-loved song on here with one of the best videos in the past few years. It's sort of become a pop 'moment'!

Honestly, people moaning in here is become even more tiresome then what they're moaning about. If you don't like it, then you're honestly on the wrong site because this has always leaned a lot more favourably to female pop artists

Don't think so but we'll see.
