What a ridiculous list.

A million DELLERS list should be about copies, not streams.

That's why it's not been called a 'million-sellers' list, rather a 'millionaires' list.

BTW, I count 147 out of 315 coming from 2010 or later! :o

Conversely, these songs would still be on the list if they hadn't sold a single copy:

quite sad that only 3 songs in the top 10 most streamed don't feature one of Ed Sheeran or Justin Bieber.

03 01 SHAPE OF YOU ED SHEERAN

08 02 ONE DANCE DRAKE FT WIZKID & KYLA

10 03 SORRY JUSTIN BIEBER

16 04 LOVE YOURSELF JUSTIN BIEBER

56 09 CASTLE ON THE HILL ED SHEERAN

72 10 CLOSER CHAINSMOKERS FT HALSEY

65 11 LEAN ON MAJOR LAZER FT MO & DJ SNAKE

71 12 I TOOK A PILL IN IBIZA MIKE POSNER

80 13 STITCHES SHAWN MENDES

05 14 UPTOWN FUNK MARK RONSON FT BRUNO MARS

28 15 CHEERLEADER (FELIX JAEHN REMIX) OMI

50 16 7 YEARS LUKAS GRAHAM

106 17 LUSH LIFE ZARA LARSSON

92 18 SAY YOU WON'T LET GO JAMES ARTHUR

88 19 THIS IS WHAT YOU CAME FOR CALVIN HARRIS FT RIHANNA

135 20 COLD WATER MAJOR LAZER/JUSTIN BIEBER/MO

23 21 TAKE ME TO CHURCH HOZIER

Oh wow! Loving this list this is amazing!!

Seems the The OCC have finally done away with their ridiculous stance on sales and finally accepting TES as the new modern sales units. Although the amount of million sellers now is just crazy and Ed Sheeran being third is quite hilarious. 8 million sellers to his name is even more eyebrow raising.

I wonder if they will change the certifications at any point. Going back to platinum being given to songs that shift a million units seems fairly reasonable given its happening fairly frequently and has been doing so since the start of the decade.

Also a nice surprise to see Adele actually has 3 million sellers in old money, 4 including streaming.

Ah thought I'd missed one. Still incredible/crazy

Finally an AMAZING article from the OCC. :D

I am simply beside myself with joy over this whole turn of events :yahoo:

Everyone else has pretty much hit upon most of the exciting parts of this (official recognition of "combined sales" million sellers, up to date sales figures for more than 300 high profile songs, the raw amount of data available for parsing, and the assurance that, despite some questionable rule adjustments in recent months, the OCC are still on basically the right track), but I am particularly excited about the inclusive distinction between "million sellers" and "millionaires", as it will allow the OCC to maintain a separate listing of sales only million sellers without diverting any energy from the new classification. The million sellers list may be trending to irrelevancy as the years go on (for better or worse), but it continues to be a neat little representation of the old era ( ) of music purchasing. As streaming figure inflate more and more, it has become increasingly apparent that directly comparing figures of the sales era and the streams era is a fool's errand, so it will be nice having access to both listings.

Anyway, time to dig into the figures and update my documents/playlists B-)

Using the 1:150 ratio for all SES puts “Shape Of You” at #6 on 2.1 million and plummets “One Dance” from 8 to 31 (on 1.75 million).

Also, I'm not sure what is going on with the “Starships” sales total but it is definitely over a million..

How awesome to see C'est la Vie finally become a million seller for B*Witched! I did wonder a few years ago if that was due to become one with streams being incorporated given it was on about 900k pure sales around the time they did The Big Reunion :)

I suspect there won't be a separate listing published anymore though. Provided they give us similarly detailed breakdowns in future we can work it out, but they've changed the canon now, so it's not all good.

Presuming the figures for SES and total sales are correct, that gives "Starships" 1,162,065 in download sales. Must've been a typo from the OCC.

(though I do think the SES figure given is oddly low..)

It's not sold that much - it only 'officially made 1 million' in July 2016: http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/n...-the-uk__15646/

I think it's something like ~1,062,000 sales and ~126,000 SES

At least SOY could still sell a million copies but it is crazy that it no 3 yet without streaming its nowhere yet

Oh yes, I hadn't noticed that its streams listed were suspiciously low. A shame there's that mistake, thus its amended pure sales are wrong. :(

I feel that an additional 62k downloads in the last year alone would be a bit of a stretch? I really can't figure out what figures they meant to write! :drama:

(Just for reference, but OCC originally and mistakenly stated 2,081 for its pure sales).

I suppose this was inevitable as downloads are rapidly declining in popularity. Would become very stagnant if they didn't accept streams.

So happy to see the sales and streams breakdown. You wait ages for some decent sales info then you get a 300+ list all at once!
