for reference, 'In The Lonely Hour' sold 101k in its first week, and this was in the middle of the year and with Sam Smith not being as big as he is now.

I am expecting sales of over 250k, wouldn't be that surprised if it outdid 300k though but I'll choose the 250-300k bracket.

Haven't added a chart position question, if anyone really thinks it'll miss #1 let us know.

An odd album title given he’s music is more coma inducing than thrilling

At least it's an improvement on that ridiculous working title he was going with!

I put 100k-150k. (But with the higher end in mind as opposed to close to 100k)

I have a feeling this might underperform in the long run... is he really bigger now than back then? I'm not sure tbh. A lot of people seem to be bored of him already. But I guess his promo will help him.

Edit: Now that I've said this, watch the album sell 500k in the first week and become Ed/Adele type huge!!

If it sells any copies at all it’ll be too many tbh.

Not by cup of tea but he seems to get far to much crap.

I mean, the Man isn't exactly Jessie J bad or anything.

i don't like him at all

but still think he's gonna do very well and could do 300K on week 1

Think a few of you are overpredicting and can't see him doing anywhere near Ed/Adele numbers. 200k at very most

I think Sam Smith is very underrated in here :(

he is very talented with a great voice...and I am glad general population doesn't read BJ :kink:

Anyway, he will sell 300k with ease, he has hype and big #1 single and with seasons coming, he will easy sell 1 million by the end of the year.

Do you think so? A million before Christmas? We'll see but I don't think he can manage that. Rag 'n'Bone Man hasn't hit the million yet.

I'm really curious to know how did you come up with that statistic :P

Are you based just on members here on BJ?

was also checking the album thread at ukmix and people seriously hate him, you wouldn't believe most of the comments

but i think that despite him being hated on music forums, the general public do like him and will buy the album

and I also think he'll do 1 million before the end of the year

he'd not on the same level as ed/adele, but half there

I am positive that he will cross 1 million once Xmas is over.

Rag'n'Bone hasn't hit million yet because he released out of Xmas season, and also besides Human, did he have any other huge hit?

I think I read the same thing over and over again with Ed Sheeran too, while the same people go crazy after Shawn Mendes, Zayn, Harry etc etc. but male singers like Sam and Ed have general public as their main consumers.

Well 'Skin' wasn't exactly huge but was a reasonably sized follow-up, peaked in the top 20 in the UK.

True and that is the reason what kept album selling all this time I guess.

I'm sure Sam Smith will have another one or two huge hits coming from the new album.
