July 15, 20186 yr Omg I watched this today and I LOVED it! I don’t think I can really add much to what reviews are saying about the film but something that stuck in my head since going to see it is the short film preceeding it - Bao. Honestly the most heart-breaking pixar short I’ve seen! I’m fairly certain it was aimed at adults with the take-home message about how desperately attached this mother was to her child that she started imagining a dumpling as a living individual as a coping mechanism. July 16, 20186 yr 8/10 worth the wait, an actual story that isn't a retread of the original. More to do with traditional role reversals and modern media manipulation as a plot backbone, set against fab characterisation and dialogue. As a comics superhero fan lots of fun "homages" allowing for future "Name-the-original-superhero-powers" drinking games. Over 18's only of course.... One of the best movies of the year in a year with plenty of great movies, and gorgeously stylish and retro animation.
July 25, 20186 yr Omg I watched this today and I LOVED it! I don’t think I can really add much to what reviews are saying about the film but something that stuck in my head since going to see it is the short film preceeding it - Bao. Honestly the most heart-breaking pixar short I’ve seen! This!!! That dumpling was the cutest thing ever but I was really taken aback by this short, brilliant stuff.
July 25, 20186 yr I really enjoyed this. I thought they got it spot on. Such an improvement on the first which just seemed to pander a bit and end up being a chore until the last 15 mins or so. This was much more refreshing than I expected it to be. A lot funnier too. Dash and Jack-Jack (along with Edna ofc - but she was paid DUST...AGAIN!!) were my faves
July 30, 20186 yr I absolutely loved this film! I was never too big on the original, I always felt it was one of Pixar's weakest, but this film completely turned it around. I would happy watch it again right now! :D
August 6, 20186 yr This is one of the best Pixar films imo, loved it!! I agree the original has never really been a fave of mine, so I wasn't rushing to see this but my friend asked me along so I thought I may as well. It completely improved upon everything about the original, the plot was great and it was much funnier. They just took every opportunity and grabbed it and made it such a brilliant film. Bao beforehand was heartbreaking too, really stuck in my mind even when followed by such a great film.
August 9, 20186 yr Finally got to see this yesterday and I really loved it! I was a bit worried by the trailer as the whole 'mom works while dad stays home' concept was not much to go with for a sequel film but it definitely exceeded those expectations! Absolutely love what they've done with Jack Jack, the fact that he has the most wild superpowers yet has no control over them was hilarious at times! That and the introduction of new superheroes really allowed the film to get creative with their humour! Potentially it is better than the first one but I think what #2 really lacked was a major villain. Evelyn just wasn't menacing enough and the Screenslayer thing was alright but a bit of a half baked concept! Syndrome was an incredible villain in hindsight. Is there anywhere to watch the short 'Bao' online I got into the cinema halfway through and didn't get to see all of it which I was gutted as I've heard really good things about it. My friend explained what was happening but I'd still like to see the whole short to make my own opinions.
August 13, 20186 yr Got to see this a few weeks back and I absolutely ADORED it! I was scared I may have been underwhelmed since it's been so long since the first one and I'm very much in a different mindset and place in my life. But it absolutely checked off every box I needed it to and I think I actually probably love it even more than the first. I want to see it again!!!
