Quite like this. Very obviously fishing for a US hit with it with Bebe and Cardi involved after their recent successes stateside, and that single cover that doesn't make EXPLICITLY clear that Rita, probably the least-known over there, is the lead artist.

It's no Anywhere, but I like it better than Charli's 'Boys'.

Too bad for RAYE.

I love Bebe’s voice on songs like Ferrari, but this just doesn’t suit her, she sounds like a Poundland Cher Lloyd in her first era  Still a bop tho

It’s... a diet bop, but I really did expect more from such a stacked ensemble. It sounds too 2014 Charli XCX trying to do Bang Bang, which is weird bc 2018 Charli KILLED IT.

You can tell Bebe was just phoned in for this, it really could have been just Charli on the second verse.

I wonder if the music video will be more like Charli’s Boys or Drake’s Nice For What
This is BRILLIANT, everything I wanted from it  so catchy and it doesn't feel try-hard either, which it easily could. Cardi is the best feature and I'd actually say I enjoy Bebe more than Charli (who, by the end, you could almost forget was on it). Y'all are going in too hard on Bebe.

I wish I liked this more than I did. It's catchy, sure, but I can't help but feel the talent involved could have come up with something so much better than this. Also, to me this sounds really... joyless? I don't sense anything celebratory/empowering here (which I assume is what they tried for). It's very clinical.

Very disappointing after Anywhere was that life affirming bop! I'm not against Girls being a hit because I'm always happy to see Rita doing well, but another part of me hopes this gets buried quickly so she can hopefully move on to something better.

I feel like the label has pinned hopes on this being a breakthrough moment for Rita in the US, that gives her the traction to warrant an album to eventually come out on the strength of a US hit, but I really can't see it.

Also this is very side eyes emoji~

One of the lyrics that really stuck out to me was in your opening verse: “I’m open-minded / I’m 50/50, and I’m never gonna hide it.”

[Laughs]

For you, personally, were you trying to share something with your fans about your own sexuality?

I knew people were going to look into it like that. I definitely said it because I can — and it was one of those things where, if I was 50/50…I’m not saying I’m “70/30.” … “I’m 50/50, and I’m not gonna hide it.” I’m not hiding what I am, who I am, if I wanna do this, if I wanna do that. That’s just how it’s gonna be.

For me and my career, this is definitely the most open-booked I’ve ever been, if that’s a word. I’m definitely an open book with this record, and I’m really proud of the support I’ve got with my fellow collaborators.

Would you consider yourself bisexual or fluid?

I think the way…If people look at it like that, it’s very narrow-minded, and I don’t think that’s what this record is. I don’t think that that even matters. Yeah.

I'd be fine if the explanation of the song's meaning was roughly: "it's about having fun, perhaps on a night out, and you kiss your female friends but not necessarily in a sexually motivated way, but celebrating friendship and showing affection". I feel that's what Rita is skirting around with her rather meaningless explanation. However the "50/50" line is blatantly going to invite questions and speculation about her sexuality, so her playing coy about that and not really offering an explanation that makes any sense is a bit "um..." to me.

It sounds too 2014 Charli XCX trying to do Bang Bang, which is weird bc 2018 Charli KILLED IT.

This basically

It sounds like a Sucker demo that was barely changed for 2018

Not into it

This is getting worse rather than better for me on repeated listens  Clinical and joyless is a great way to put it Jay! It just kind of plods along.
Well I actually liked this on first listen very instant *.*

For me it was instant displeasure

This is horrid. The bare-ass chorus, the clunky lyrics ('Kush Lovin' takes the cake), the awful mixing -- and perhaps the most offensive of all -- Bebe's verging-on-parody vocals. That's not even taking into account the fact that the entire premise of the song is absurd and ridiculously outdated. WHO greenlit this?
I think those above tweets are looking way too deep into this track. It's fun, it's carefree and I don't think it's even remotely damaging. We don't know Rita's sexual preferences, for all we know she *could* be bisexual. Besides, in these days, haven't we all established that sexuality is not set in stone? I don't see what's so difficult about a "straight" girl enjoying kissing other girls when drunk. Similarly, I'd say the same about a lesbian girl kissing guys when drunk. It's not that deep imo.
