April 30, 20187 yr Push The Button' and those shenanigans in the lift are out. The music video a bit racy at the time.

It was initially due to be released as an AAside as 'Never Give Up On The Good Times / Viva Forever', however due to fans praise of 'Viva Forever' and was released on 20th July, a whole three months later than planned! The video features them as cartoons in a fairly bizzare yet emotive, somehow, video with animation by Aardman (Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit). The song itself is genuinely moving and has a real sense of longing and emotion, not something you see in many girlgroup singles. It got an extraordinary amount of high scores, however two -1 scores let it down considerably so it wasn't lucky enough to make Top 10 here :(.
May 3, 20187 yr 'Viva Forever' should have been top 5 minimum :( rooting for 'Pure Shores' now but I'm sure that'll be another casualty due to -1s soon as well. </3
May 3, 20187 yr Sorry I just cannot abide Viva Forever, I don't find it cute or emotional or wistful, just dull as anything, I've given it so much chance to grow and it never does, just ones of those songs I can never like for some reason :/
May 3, 20187 yr Author 14 | Sugababes - Freak Like Me | 8.19 dSAGsiVSoeE UK Peak: 01 US Peak: DNC UK Chart Run: 04/05/2002 01-03-06-10-16-24-25-35-44-53-57-64-62-72-> 14wks LOVED IT:, Rush (11) HATED IT: Jonjo (-1) At #14 is Sugababes with 'Freak Like Me', the lead single to be taken off of their second studio album 'Angels With Dirty Faces'. It was also their first single without Siobhan and with new member, Heidi Range. It was produced by Richard X and sampled 'Are Friends Electric?' by Gary Numan and Tubeway Army. Prior to this, their single success and overall success didn't seem too promising, so it was a little bit shocking at the time they got to #01 and beat S Club Juniors to #01 (very narrowly) when they were being heavily promoted and had their own TV show. A fantastic, and fairly left field pop song, at least at the time that still sounds good now. It's not my fave by them but it is something I appreciate.
May 3, 20187 yr Jonjo that -1!!! :o 'Freak Like Me' is my favourite Sugababes song  what a way to kick off their second era.
May 3, 20187 yr I was hoping Viva Forever would still manage top 10 despite the few low marks </3 Possibly my favourite ever girlband song, a haunting and beautiful song lyrically and musically and the video always makes me smile even if not for the right reasons.
May 3, 20187 yr Freak Like Me is INCREDIBLE, I agree that it still holds up now and it's no wonder it was the song that catapulted them to the next level.
May 3, 20187 yr Author 13 | Sugababes - Round Round | 8.31 FHh86ySgKrA UK Peak: 01 US Peak: DNC UK Chart Run: 04/08/2002 01-02-03-03-07-15-18-25-29-36-47-56-72-> 13wks LOVED IT:, Jack, SamJudd, Jade, Liam, Spiceboy, Casey, shindymindy, NickF1 (10) HATED IT: Scene (5) At #13 is Sugababes again, this time with the second single from their second studio album 'Angels With Dirty Faces' and their second consecutive number one, following 'Freak Like Me', 'Round Round'. It was a huge radio staple at the time and received high critical acclaim and was when Sugababes were at an all time high imo. It is absolutely one of their best, an undeniable chorus and a melody that gets stuck in your head. I'm not sure if it's become one of their better known big hits, but it is definitely one of their most interesting.
May 3, 20187 yr Back-to-back 'Angels With Dirty Faces' 10/10 moments dropping out, aw :( hope 'Hole In The Head' can make the top 10!
May 3, 20187 yr Author 12 | Sugababes - Hole In The Head | 8.37 Lf0tUnUB27I UK Peak: 01 US Peak: 96 UK Chart Run: 25/10/2003 01-05-06-08-19-25-39-42-58-70-72-69-69-> 13wks LOVED IT:, ...readyforit, Simon, SamJudd, Jade, DJHaze, HarryEzra, Casey, shindymindy, NickF1 (10) HATED IT: michaelking21 (5) At #12 is Sugababes again (!!) with sadly their last entry in the Top 100 and missing out on a Top 10 place :(. This time with lead single off of their third studio album, 'Three', it went straight in at #01 for them and was their third #01 single, even if it was a fairly shortlived one and was one of their only singles to make a dent in the US - peaking at #96 there. I'm surprised to see this as Sugababes highest but I'm not complaining, it's so infectious and full of personality, a true girl power anthem and quite interesting, production wise. It was what Sugababes were, originally at least, all about, attitude filled and quirky pop songs. A shame they couldn't get a song in the Top 10 in this, but they have done very well to have as many songs Top 10 as they do.
May 3, 20187 yr ...oh :( well, at least all three of those made the top 15. As I said before, I would never have expected them to be above 'About You Now' and 'Push The Button'.
May 3, 20187 yr Both of those are as fab as Freak tbh, it's easy to see how Sugababes were on the top of their game during 2.0 with highlights like that <3
May 3, 20187 yr Author 11 | Girls Aloud - Call The Shots | 8.45 QPWUyAZZfK0 UK Peak: 03 US Peak: DNC UK Chart Run: 01/12/2007 09-03-03-05-09-07-07-11-16-20-23-29-33-38-34-42-46-46-49-62-75-> 21wks LOVED IT:, Hayzayy, Seinfeld (11) HATED IT: Vibe, shindymindy (4) At #11 and just missing out on a Top 10 placement is Girls Aloud with 'Call The Shots', the second single to be taken off of their fourth studio album 'Tangled Up'. It went on to be one of their most successful songs and one of their signature songs, peaking at #3 in the UK and sticking around for 21 weeks in the Top 75! I remember thinking it would flop as 'Sexy! No No No...' did just okay and this sounded a bit too subtle .... I'm so happy I was proven wrong. It has gone on to become one of my favourite GA single, a subtle yet catchy pop song with amazing production that the girls were known for.
May 3, 20187 yr Author The Top 10 then; All Saints - Pure Shores Girls Aloud - Sound Of The Underground Little Mix - Move Little Mix - Touch Mis-Teeq - Scandalous Spice Girls - 2 Become 1 Spice Girls - Say You'll Be There Spice Girls - Spice Up Your Life Spice Girls - Wannabe TLC - No Scrubs Not the Top 10 I would've expected :') Feel free to predict / comment.
May 3, 20187 yr Scandalous top 10 *.* I think I'd have Say You'll Be There, Sound Of The Underground or Pure Shores to win of them, god knows what will but I kinda hope it's not Touch, as I said I really like it but it's not even the best out of LM's song let alone every girlband song
May 3, 20187 yr I have to admit, I cackled at three Sugababes songs out in a row :smoke: "Freak" deserved top ten though! A shame that "Call the Shots" and "Viva Forever" missed out also, two of the best girl group ballads of all time. Of that top ten, I'd love it if "Spice Up Your Life" managed to win, but it didn't win the Spices' singles rate so I'm not expecting it to win here. I probably gave all the remaining songs at least a 9 or 10 though so I really don't mind which song wins.
May 4, 20187 yr The only one I’m kinda annoyed about is Touch because it’s just not as good as the rest left, or in fact as most of the top 20 tbh. I bet it wouldn’t be so high if this were 5 years time.
May 4, 20187 yr Poor Sugababes. Poor Call the Shots. I'll always remember the first time I heard Freak Like Me - my little heart could barely take it.
