Thank the LORD Thelonia hung on there, and happy to see Yehesi and Suedeonia making it too. The rest are all fairly obvious anyway (apart from Taahino which I really don't get in the slightest but I guess it must have its audience?? I know I know, this is probably how some people feel about my entries most of the time xx)

SHADY!!!!!! You say that like my song is bad....

Buzzjack ordinarily seems to dislike down tempo indie bops (poor Now, Now etc) so I was expecting this to go the same way but it's one of the few songs I've stumbled upon recently that I've fallen in love with so I'm really happy and SURPRISED to have made the final, probs coming for that last place slot but its still better than expected so ty to anyone who threw some points my way, its good to know some of you have taste even if Bray doesnt  xxx

Tbh it's not that it's 'bad' (it went over my head more than anything else), I'm just confused that compared to all the other super low-key songs in this contest that were nowhere near qualifying, this was the one that made it  maybe I'll see it more the second time I hear it, it's not like I never enjoy a good minimalist indie song x

(this is Cigarettes After Sex all over again)

Tartford/Espen/Singerpurear were my 11th-13th too looking back but it was a fantastic semi.
Yeah, I noticed that too. After whatever the hell was going on last month I guess everyone just stepped it up!

27: #00274E θ L D R U θ Next to You (feat. Savoi) (26pts)

27: Trifoski θ KNOWER θ Overtime [Live Band Session] (19pts, no 6s)

L D R U is a banger Semi 1 you made a big mistake :P Trifoski was 10th for me :( Robbed although I think the original might have fared better here

omg Holland-Oats made it? already these results have gone better than expected, it's easily their best entry to date

Thank you! It's definitely above my last two entries oops

I swear of Montreal would have been a top 10 if it had (existed and) been entered in like 2012. Boo hiss.

Society is crumbling.

But fun fact, of Montreal have released over 30 albums since they formed in 1996. Quite the prolific band. x

Hmmm thanks for 1 point but I actually qualified :D oops

If I may:

HOW DID ULTRAVIOLENCELAND NOT QUALIFY??

AND WHY WERE Y'ALL PREDICTING IT AS A WINNER CONTENDER??

Y'all see what I mean now about hype trains being predicated on the person who sends it rather than the song itself? As if I sent it it would have been 100% DNQ predictions. SHouldn't have DNQed though :( #morenoveltyneeded

I thought it stood an alarmingly good chance of qualifying (but no more) based on the type of song it was. I mean, I very nearly voted for it myself, it was 11th best in what was the stronger semi! Don't think it has anything to do with your ramblings though, and FYI, you'll notice I'm deleting those when they're not relevant to the topic or based in fact, and indeed they weren't this time as you qualified against the odds.

I KNEW Pupok would qualify - it's an ALERT WINNER. At least top3, 1-4 for sure.

And oh Iz you better DON'T come at my song like that - I go land you slap!

Disagree. Nice song but not the sort that leaps out at you.

And I will continue to say what I think about your song, a generic mess that just proves Latin charts can be just as bad as western charts sometimes. Congrats on qualifying but I'm still mystified as to why, the billion views on Youtube aside.

with that in mind and because I feel like being cheeky, consider my 'novelty' AQ when voting xx

The song is amazing - a high-octane love letter to Latin culture/ music/ countries. It's HUGE in Spain and Latin America because 1.) that's what ALL big Latin songs sound like, high energy and a lot of instrumentation, and 2.) its message. Obviously a LOT of people get it, even if you and Dan don't :P And it is better than Sofia btw

Also, thanks to everyone for voting for the song  Si tu eres latino, saca tu bandeeeeraaaaa! Es la gozadera, Miami me la confirmóóóó!

I'm ALWAYS here for novelty, but haven't heard your AQ yet tbh unless it was in the semi 2 playlist on plug?

boo at Snakey DNQing in last due to non-voting (I hope he's okay, it's not like him to be missing for this long), and seemingly it would have DNQed anyway. :(

I was away on a 3 day holiday to Addyland! ;)

Oops at missing the voting, should have checked the deadline and voted before I went away! :(

How did La Gozadera get through the veto? It was huge in 2015, even in the UK its global impact seemed noticeable so I don't understand how it managed to get through
It was only huge in Spanish speaking countries and it's from a few years ago now also it didn't exactly light up the UK chart.
Honestly I can't believe how out of touch I am, thought this would do really well. Not sure if I have the inclination to even vote in the final now, might take a break from the contest anyway. :')
I knew of them before Kylie  But exactly it's about Buzzjack impact primarily, well not necessarily impact on the site but things that are sort of the same demographic such as the blogs everyone looks at, and certain charts, but like a random Spanish hit realistically nobody on Buzzjack is particularly going to have hunted that down even if it was huge in that circle.
No one in BuzzJack PERIOD except for maybe the Americans had heard of Gente De Zona until he worked with Kylie

Erm hello, Bailando anyone????

Ah yes that UK #75 smash hit where Gente de Zona only have a few lines (but yeah I'm sure at least half of Buzzjack have heard that song so Cody is deffo exaggerating).

For a song with over a billion YT views it doesn't seem like 'La Gozadera' was that massive a hit, it was #1 in Spain but only went top 10 in Romania otherwise according to Wikipedia, and it didn't chart at all in the USA. It predates Latin music being relevant at all in the UK.

It seems like nearly every moderately big Spanish language hit can easily get to 1 billion views these days.
