If 3 lions does get number one friday it will surely break the record of dropping from number one.

Not sure if that is held by McFly 1-20 or not but also an elvis presley reissue matched it i believe.

I think Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir broke that record recently, going 1-29 in 2015!

Wasn’t that already broken by NHS choir?

it's gonna be really interesting, wouldn't wanna be in the shoes of the occ guy that has to estimate the missing data
Shotgun will get this. They won't wanna go announcing three lions as #1 now so if it does actually get the highest number of sales they'll conveniently scale it down like they did with god save the queen & ding dong.

I don't think it's anywhere near that controversial, so I'm sure they'll be fine with it.

How did they scale those down?

They might have to announce Three Lions at #1, it doesn't work like that.

We all know the chart ratio formula and the daily streams totals so it would be very easy to identify manipulation in this day and age, they wouldn't get away with doing that.

I think Three Lions might well be No.1, and it may get there because of the estimated streams for today, which are obviously going to be way off reality

Wouldn't be the first, nor the second time that Three Lions has been enthusiastically purchased to the top of the charts ahead of a non-victorious campaign ;)
I wouldn’t call Top 4 non-victorious really, considering England’s track record anyway

I actually re-worded it before posting from 'unsuccessful' so as not to imply they didn't do well

Yeah, I think it will be a nice tribute for England’s memorable achievement of getting to the semi-finals anyway.

We’ve used 1966 and, to a lesser extent 1990, as a benchmark of achievement for so long, it’s nice to have a good modern day result that England teams in 4, 8 and 12 years’ time can aspire to matching or beating.

Will be interesting to see how many of this year’s squad will be present in the 2022 team, if England qualify. Surely three or four you would think.

How would 3L be a nice tribute to losing? The lyrics are about them winning and that the cup is coming home lol.

OT: They rode a crest of luck to get to the SF and the teams they faced that were actually good they crumbled (Belgium and Croatia)

Really hope ‘Three Lions’ still get some It even if it does end up 1-out. Incredible that it’s returned to the top spot for a 3rd time

If you actually listen to the lyrics, they're as much about us not winning as us winning :P

If it is #1 it'll be the first song ever to have 4 runs at #1 right? (As it had two non-consecutive weeks in 1996). Coincidentally the same week 'Nice For What' did the exact same thing in the USA.
Years and Years may have had boosted sales if Radio 2 had it made it the album of the week but they went for Tom Grennan, who's album imo is more superior then the Years and Years album
Years & Years were on Radio 1 this morning , hopefully the Live Lounge boost will give them a late boost.

And the "it's coming home" isn't actually about winning the World Cup or the Euros. It's the fact we were holding a major tournament since 1966. :P
