August 30, 20186 yr Will be amazing to see Ronaldo playing at Old Trafford again, even if he'll be on the winning team! City do have an easy ride but they earned it by being in Pot 1, we had that luxury all the time back in the late noughties! Liverpool shouldn't have too many difficulties, PSG aren't exceptionally good by any means. Spurs should sail through too, they smashed Real in the groups stage last year so Barca shouldn't be intimidating at all. As for United, 3rd place written all over. August 30, 20186 yr City have an easy draw on paper but Lyon and Hoffenheim are some of the better teams in the pots.. still they'll breeze through. Think all the other English teams have difficult draws with Spurs probably being the hardest. Liverpool have a tricky group but I would expect us to do well in our home games at least. I'm interested to see the draws as for us we play a lot of our rivals after European games so that could have a big effect on the league.
August 30, 20186 yr No way united survive that group. Should save me a few pennies at least. City again have the easiest group. Wonder how much that set back the crown prince this year
August 30, 20186 yr Ooh some tricky groups there, especially that Tottenham one. Let's hope City can perform as expected with that group.
August 30, 20186 yr There's a good chance that we'll be playing Europa League football early next year. Ronaldo will score against us home & away and Valencia will be a very tricky opponent. No surprise to see Man City get the easiest group on paper out of the English teams, if there was ever a group that is the opposite of a "group of death" then it's definitely Group D. That's a fantastic opportunity for all of the teams in that group to play knockout Champions League football.
August 31, 20186 yr Author If united can't beat Young Boys and Valencia to reach the last 16 there's something wrong!!
September 18, 20186 yr Anyone going to be watching any of the matches tonight? Usually I would, but I'll be watching West Brom v Bristol City on the red button instead. :D
September 18, 20186 yr No surprises at all from the kings of bottling, did the same vs juve last year. Impressive stuff from pool but I did expect them to beat a team who always flatter to deceive in this comp.
September 18, 20186 yr I don't watch much of PSG but by God they were shite. I can see why they don't get far, with the sheer naviety of the front players. We were quite good but Salah is a bit off form at the moment (I think he's trying too hard) and so badly wants a goal. Big 3 points for us, it would have been a travesty if PSG got a point.
September 19, 20186 yr Will be amazing to see Ronaldo playing at Old Trafford again, even if he'll be on the winning team! Lol.
September 19, 20186 yr I'm glad Ronaldo won't be playing against us as that should reduce the attacking threat from Juventus significantly. A nice professional performance from Man United tonight as well. It sucks that even the highlight show has been taken away from ITV now in favour of BT Sport. This season looks like it's going to be the hardest to keep track of the Champions League.
September 19, 20186 yr They upload 5 minute highlight vids on YouTube! Very convenient over work lunch I must say.
September 19, 20186 yr Surely Ronaldo will only get a 1 game ban? Anyway really surprising City got beat tbh, I still expect they will breeze through but it at least adds a bit more pressure on to them now as they won't have qualified by gameweek 4 this time around!
September 20, 20186 yr Yeah I can’t see Ronaldo picking up a 3 game ban for that either. I’m still cackling at City losing to Lyon. The goals were almost coordinated in the two Manchester matches. The score line at the end of the first half for us was unfair to Young Boys but it was a deserved win for us. Shaw and Dalot on the wings were fantastic. For his first game of senior football since a knee op In May and his 9th total, Dalot was brilliant. Caught out in Defense a couple of times but nothing a few more games won’t fix. Both provided some good crosses and deliveries into the box. Dalot has a cracking run down the flank in like the second minute that better than anything Valencia has done all year and then his cross for the offside goal was just perfect. (The penalty decision was extremely soft. Yes it was a handball but it wasn’t deliberate. Seen similar given in the past but it still feels a bit iffy.)
