Posted August 3, 20186 yr Surprise bitches xx Hopefully some of y'all are around, I'll be revealing the entries one by one at 7:30, thought it would be fun to do with the descriptions people gave and to give each one a bit of spotlight!
August 3, 20186 yr Hyped. My description wasn’t exactly very interesting tho lmaoooo whoops I'm sure I had only written 2 words for mine oop
August 3, 20186 yr Author The songs will be revealed in order of running order, of course as decided by Random.org! Alteria // Me First and the Gimme Gimme Gimmes – Believe “The song has been given a punk-rock feel, has a male singer.” svSg-i7xRTc First up is Alteria, Brett-Butler’s country with a re-invention of a BRAYFAVE :o Cher’s Believe is the biggest selling song by a female in the UK and is known for being her own re-invention 30 years into her career, re-vitalising it. Will a twist on a classic be received well here?
August 3, 20186 yr Author Terra Avium // Swingrowers – Mr Sandman “An electro swing cover of the classic 50s pop song with a new arrangement” Rj0lCa5B1TY Chez has sent a song that takes us decades back but brings it into the present day! Mr Sandman is probably one of those songs a lot of people know from TV and film, so how will a total shake-up go down??
August 3, 20186 yr Author Aeroche // Notize – Demons II (ft. Fura) [Kant Remix] “It's a remix of a song that samples another song that was also previously a BJSC entry.” tmVpprg-WR4 Lew has decided on a song that is a sample of a cover of a Persephonian BJSC entry! Far less known than the first two songs.
August 3, 20186 yr Well my issue with the Cher song is the vocoded vox of the original so hopefully I'll like this version more I guess! Thought Terra Avium was a Metallica cover for a second  edit: yas I figured out Aeroche's entry from Lew's post in the thread, Fura for justice pls x
August 3, 20186 yr Hyped, me and Bray following IRL accompanied with Chinese takeaway shortly, goals x Ooh I know the original of Chez's song (probably from film / tv as pointed out) so I'm very interested to hear it in electro-swing form haha.
August 3, 20186 yr Author Fljótavík // Tori Amos – Smells Like Teen Spirit “Piano and vox cover of classic 90s grunge anthem” vB2c7_vyBSM Another classic re-imagined, a lot of you may know Tori Amos and she’s brought her usual spell-binding style to something that EVERYONE will know and most of us love.
August 3, 20186 yr Yay, hyped for this! Watching Australian Survivor atm, but will keep checking the thread!
August 3, 20186 yr Author Persephonia // Black Banshee – Teen Pregnancy “Instrumental is a mashup of samples/remixes of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five's 'The Message' and Boards Of Canada's 'Sunshine Recorder', vocals are sampled from an episode of Degrassi. The video I linked is also an edit of a Simpsons episode (it's just a Simpsonwave meme video but it contains the entire song and it fits well so I'm sending that instead of the audio link x)” rTfa-9aCTYg Well Bray said it all x Very different to what’s been revealed so far, I am aware of Simpsonswave, the wonder of the breadth of weird stuff on the internet eh? :kink:
August 3, 20186 yr Little known fact,Believe by Cher contains a sample from an ELO song called 'Prologue' from 1981.
August 3, 20186 yr Author Cadelicia // CUT_ - Papaoutai “English translation” Vy84qfcXY1U Oliver’s gone for an English cover of a previous top 20 BJSC hit by Stromae for Juranabaijan, with different production. Will it do well again in English??
August 3, 20186 yr The artist name there should be Blank Banshee x This is a song I had as a potential for the main contest for over a year but idk if I was ever gonna get around to it so this theme seemed like a good excuse as any, since it's made completely of recycled elements! (Like pretty much the entire vaporwave genre x) Interested to see how 'Papaoutai' sounds in English!
August 3, 20186 yr Author FSR Rontvia // Alex Christensen & The Berlin Orchestra - L'amour Toujours “The track is an orchestral ballad cover version of a Eurodance classic.” aSKqKzojfzg Rich has gone for an orchestral version of a huge Eurodance hit from the early 00s that never quite made it to the UK. How will this go down with a solid dance fanbase in BJSC who I’m sure are very aware of the original? :o
