Well after what was quite a brutal round of confirmations, we did manage to salvage, as seems to be the traditional number, 20 songs and they and their senders will now battle it out for glory of the top Dubstep or Trap track in what promises to be a noisy and epic voting stage. Below you will find the 20 tracks that have been sent anonymised, you must listen and familiarise yourself with these tracks and rank them and vote for the ten you like the best. We are, as always, using the Eurovision voting system for this and ofc. you may NOT vote for your own entry:

ALL participants must vote of you will be met with a penalty of 33.3% deduction to your entry's final score, it's not a lot of songs so no excuses x However, anyone can vote even if you don't have an entry, so please don't hesitate if this perks your curiosity.

A reminder also that this contest is anonymous and I ask you to not reveal or hint at your entry until it is revealed in the results thread. Any rule breakers will be met with a Gorgon stare x

In the year 3030, the rising of global temperatures and dying of plant life has caused the world and it's inhabitants to be made of pure stone for over five decades, barely a day goes by where a whimper is even heard throughout the barren landscape, in the times of hardship, the blind men have turned to the one eyed man, or those that at least have some experience so the world is ruled by those that have lived in stone for even longer than human kind has - the great Statues of the World.

But things are changing, and the advanced guard of Statues has found a possible way to break the stone curse - Legends say that it is only through the unspeakably energetic and forceful beat of Dubstep and Trap music could break even the strongest of stone.

So it is here, in the Valley of the Bizarre, that the world's most influential stone leaders will battle it out with their proposed song from this extraordinary genre that will break the curse, and the give the suggester of it, the granting of eternal life and movement as well as rightful ruler of the stone world.

All Stone leaders are reminded to vote honestly for the song they believe will break the curse and respect whatever decision may come of that. Here are each leader's nomination:

I remember 'Shot Yourself In The Foot Again' very well from the time! I love that song but what to do when ranking it against 18 songs I've never heard before :lol:

Ooh I had a BJSC potential by Ducky called 'Heal' a couple of years ago so I'm intrigued to hear his song here *.* looking forward to this as ever!

Yes, if anyone could run one that would be great! I would run one but I'm also not experienced in running them and I feel like I might be unreliable and not there for the whole session oops

 

Also Dan + Bre, could I rely on you guys for Spotify/Youtube if you could? (God, I sound so lazy in this post, tut tut)

 

I haven't listened to these yet, I am aware of Shot Yourself in the Foot Again though which I do like (I had no say in any of these vetoes xx), hopefully a great set though.

I'm semi-familiar with Graduation but that's the only one I know out of that lot so a lot of discoveries!

Surprised Skream passed the veto actually! I was tempted by woo boost but though that'd be a little too cheap.

 

Lots of artists I recognise there tho not so much the tracks. And who stole my first choice artist THIS time I wonder? (Na it's cool I prefer my current choice)

I must say, this isn’t BJSC, but even if it was Skream wouldn’t be vetoed. When has Skream ever had commercial success solo (apart from Magnetic Man)? Even Example is hardly a mainstream act anymore. Both Dan and I debated the track, but despite it’s Radio 1 playlisting, the song is nearly 8 years old and suits the theme perfectly fine. There would have been nothing stopping anyone sending Rusko, Joker, Flux Pavilion etc with the right song as the genres are not as prominent anymore :P

I'm not saying Skream should have been vetoed or anything as it is indeed pretty old and I'm sure there'll be some people who don't know it as it wasn't exactly a massive hit. It's just one I happen to be pretty familiar with. x

 

'Woo Boost' would have been tough to beat for my 12 if you did send that Dobbo! :heart: (I was probably going to send 'Purple City' by Joker if I ended up being vetoed a second time).

Yeah that's fair enough, and to be fair we allowed even some top 40 hits through in some of the earlier editions when I was co-vetting (Tina Cousins anyone?)

 

Ooh Flux Pavilion tho :heart: Hard to pick my fave between I Can't Stop, Got To Know & Bass Cannon! Really looking forward to this contest, completely fell back in love with DnB in the last one so time to bring back my inner-2010/2011 looning for this one *_*

and top 20 hits too, we were fine with 'Komodo' and that one is in about half the classic trance compilations!

 

in terms of cheap entries, we would only have vetoed the really well known songs like Nero's hits, etc. but I am pleased that the vast majority haven't gone for anything even debatably cheap!

 

of course, in dubstep circles a few of the artists here are reasonably known names, but this is Buzzjack not the UKF forum. :P (which probably doesn't exist lol)

The statues... reminded me of this 3-part /r/nosleep story I'd read years ago that had been implanted in the back of my mind ever since, and it's both a really gripping story and a nice sense of closure to have gone back and re-read it. There's one song on the list I not only know, but had on my shortlist - but behind another song from them that I think is better and would've been more popular :kink: I'm aware of 'Shot Yourself In The Foot Again' for being somewhat popular in Australia (it made the triple j Hottest 100 at #75 if you've heard of those) but I don't actually know the song at all (blame half of Example's music not being on Spotify here). Otherwise I've heard of pretty much nothing! Intrigued to hear the nothing,nowhere. feature as I like his music.

 

PS would've quite likely gone for ShockOne's 'Chaos Theory' had ShockOne not been already top 5 (and on my shortlist with another, third song - which is pretty much all the songs I know from him) in the last contest :kink:

It is at least more dubstep than the songs we did veto (has a significant dubstep section), before anyone asks 'well why was my song vetoed then'. Apologies for not noticing it earlier though, I thought after the first dubstep drop it would just continue as such. :( As the voting thread is now up, we will allow it to remain.

No Club Bizarre 3 style colour coding to distinguish between trap songs and dubstep songs? :o
