November 26, 20187 yr Yeah, position seems about right for Rita, (I expected a mid to low top 10 in Q4) but sales I over-estimated a bit. It does seem like sales are down across the board in Q4 2018 though (Apart from for Take That who used their tour bundles, they only sold 5k yesterday which is poor for an album on 90k in 3 days).
November 26, 20187 yr Can't wait for Buzzjack to hear AirForce this Friday, it will be the first drill song to make the top 40. *_ Saving a week of otherwise no new entries too.

First *serious drill song - let's not forget Big Shaq :P I was just thinking the other day that although Unknown T seems to have missed his chance it really can't be long before another random drill track makes it in, and here we are. I listened to this one a while ago as it's been in the top 100 for quite a bit already but I see it's been propelled to the top 40 by a new remix with Krept & Konan and K-Trap, I wonder if R1 will play that version or not  decent song anyway although it's no 'Homerton B'. x
November 26, 20187 yr thought Ellie would go top 10 :/ does that mean horizontal videos on Spotify do not count for the charts?
November 26, 20187 yr thought Ellie would go top 10 :/ does that mean horizontal videos on Spotify do not count for the charts? They do count, there's no reason not to when video streaming counts.
November 26, 20187 yr Ellie should climb as the week goes on, just like last week when she ended up a few places higher than the Monday mids
November 26, 20187 yr Why are Take That so much bigger now than the Spices? :( Jess Glynne is coming for that Xmas no.1 :(
November 26, 20187 yr Why are Take That so much bigger now than the Spices? :( It's impossible to put the two side by side, because really all they have in common is that they became popular in the same decade, but Take That's reunion and second wind of success was entirely without precedent when it happened. Also there was a period in time - turn of the millennium specifically - when only Robbie was still ubiqitous, and that was at a point in his career when his past with Take That was all but forgotten. It's part of what made their second coming when it happened even more brilliant than anyone thought it would be, because they'd not been as prevalent in the 10 years before. But even when they'd split up, it's impossible to pinpoint a year when one or more of the Spice Girls wasn't in the public eye, even if they weren't releasing a new solo record. If Take That have indeed shifted 90k in the space of three days then it would take an almighty effort for them to be overcome by week's end. Good on them, though. Having said that, what I have heard of 'Odyssey' makes me think some of the songs they've chosen should have been left untouched. Edited November 26, 20187 yr by ThePensmith
November 26, 20187 yr Likely missing the top 5 has to be at least a little underwhelming for Rita after such a long buildup to this album's release - I guess it's a more competitive time of year and she's more of a singles artist anyway but her debut album did still get to #1.
November 26, 20187 yr I'm not sure why you would compare the 2, the Spice Girls haven't released anything in 11 years and not released a studio album in 18 years. What you can see is that if the Spice Girls get it right and offer the public what they want (want they really really want) they can still be insanely successful with 800k concert tickets being sold in the last 3 weeks shows you. I'm sure a music release could be very successful if they got it right but maybe they just don't have the time to try to make that happen these days. 2 of the 3 from Take That have nothing else to do bar wait for Gary's call about what they are doing next and when.

I always forget Mans Not Hot is tecxhnically drill too although a joke song.
November 26, 20187 yr Jess Glynne is coming for that Xmas no.1 :( She’s due for ACR on 7th December the earliest
