Already has 5 singles off the album and a current hit doing well and is a well known name and face, I don't know why more people aren't buying the album as Christmas gifts or streaming it.

There's actually 6 singles on the album! But yeah I agree, it really should be performing better.

I think 'Only Want You' sounds like it has mega hit potential, so I agree that Rita's album may reach a new peak with that or at least sell steadily.

That is part of the problem, most people already have all the singles. Why bother with the rest of the album when all the good stuff has been previously released. Will benefit the album in the long run as streams accumulate.

But then that should help with Christmas gift sales as people looking for a CD to give to someone, there's a number of recognisable songs on the album already.

And she may well benefit over the coming weeks as we get closer to Christmas...

Even if she does repeak eventually it’s a bummer that she’s not even in contention for the #1 album in release week when “Rita Ora” is such a massive name right now

I don't think anyone ever expected her to be in contention for #1 against a 100k+ selling Take That album.

Easily the best not-already-released song on the album. Do you know if it's already being lined up as the next single?

No but that’s my point :P Years of delaying the album and releasing a string of huge hit singles and then it debuts low top 10 doesn’t look great on paper. Her sales might be good in the end but it’s still a shame (shame that this was the week of her release too considering all the other new releases)

Does anyone have the opening sales of Rita's debut album for comparison? I mean I know it's not a true comparison, what with streaming and the fact it's a different sales climate now, but would still be interesting to know how it did against other releases of that time.

It's the next single indeed.

From Music Week, regarding the Monday update:

Yesterday’s Midweek Chart Update from the Official Charts Company showed the superstar manband – Music Week cover stars last week – had moved 89,408 copies by the end of Sunday, with a clear bias to physical sales (84,745) over downloads (3,977) and streaming (686). That’s more sales than the previous fastest-seller of 2018, Arctic Monkeys' Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino (Domino), which sold 86,359 in a full week.

I think the age group who would buy the Rita Ora album wouldn't want it on cd as a gift tbf.

Annoying that Ellie is only #19 when she’s #11 on Spotify

Would love if Rita Ora missed the top 10 on a 6 year album wait.......

You’d love it? Really? Go outside.

In all honesty, I know people didn't expect Rita to contend with Take That but I honestly expected a better debut than #10 especially when you have two one million selling singles (Your Song, Anywhere) and 'Let Me Love You' on the album and even 'Girls' had a good chart run. I'm sure Rita's team would have expected a better debut too considering she's promoted on almost every possible show (Minus X Factor).

I expected at least 20k+ damn.

Less so than an older act but should still be able to shift a lot of CDs. Little Mix sell a lot of physical copies and they release the same sort of music to the same sort of fanbase and have single chart success.

Yeh true I feel LM have broken through to the more general public with the last two albums though!
