It took me somewhere and then I got slapped right back to reality when 'You Need to Calm Down' followed it. The tracklist is a mess.

I am properly loving most of the songs on their own but I have to agree the track list ordering is all over the place. Beautiful cuts followed by sassy numbers or bangers.. it is so jarring a listen.

But that's my only complaint, the songs themselves are largely great listens especially the more tender moments.

How YNTCD and ME! were decided as the two lead singles I will never ever know :')

Death By a Thousand Cuts!!! This is exactly the sound I wanted omg. My favourite so far!!
Me! is the best song on the album, followed by You Need to Calm Down & The Man. I don't think I'll keep the rest. -_-
I can't get over Cruel Summer omg
I keep seeing so much negativity for Taylor on other forums and just can’t understand why - for me this album is up there with 1989 and Reputation!

The vocal production on here is lush.

I really wanted to love this, but I'm finding a lot of the tracks quite irritating. Hope it's a grower :(

HhahaahahahahahahahHahHj

I’m a fan of this!

As a whole album it sounds like a more natural follow up to 1989 but it’s not like a total copycat sound as it’s slightly more mature in its album tracks.

I’ve always loved ME! But You Need To Calm Down is one of the worst on here!

There’s a good selection of album tracks available to be pushed as post album singles though which hopefully will mean a long running campaign.

Of what I had not heard yet

Cruel Summer and Soon You’ll Get Better really stood out to me. Afterglow and Paper Rings were also good on first listen.

I need to listen more over the weekend before I can rank. I may use the preference revealer site.

But a strong album though. There’s definitely potential for a long running campaign here if she plays it right.

I was about to say I don't think I've seen ANYONE think that those two were the correct single choices after the album dropped, oops :kink:

Ahh idk what went through their minds when choosing those two. And single 3 seems like it could be a mess, hopefully the early spotify numbers + VMA performance clean things up!

Similar to Reputation, I feel like this album is surprisingly decent after underwhelming pre-album singles.

The stand-outs for me are Miss Americana And The Heartbreak Prince, Paper Rings, I Forgot That You Existed & The Man.

Comments like this make me think you need to let the album grow on you more. Your two favourites just so happen to be the two radio have been playing for months? Coincidence much...

Me! Is legit the best song on the album followed by Cruel Summer

Now that I've listened, Death By a Thousand Cuts is my favourite by miles. Soooo special to me! I hate to say it so soon but it might become one of my all-time favourite from her

Soon You'll Get Better is another favourite, my only (tinyyy) criticism is I would've liked to hear more of the Dixie Chicks since they've been gone for so long

The other songs are very good but not really instant, which I think could be a good thing

First thoughts: it's a really good album and very consistent!! It's not one of her very best, I'd probably put the last four all above it for now, cause this one currently doesn't quite have the same highs. That said, tracks like Cruel Summer, The Man, Miss Americana, Death By a Thousand Cuts and Daylight are brilliant and there's not a single bad song. Paper Rings had me like wtf?! at first but by the end I was bopping, and I seem to be part of the minority who LOVES London Boy!

Think I need one or two more listens to distinguish some of the slower moments though, and perhaps it's a few tracks too long  The tracklist is definitely messy too, but in the future I'll probably be cherry picking anyway so it doesn't matter too much!

Also sorry but I still adore the two singles and they're both among the best on the album
