Hopefully the EU27 reject the short delay and give conditions of a long one. All a short delay is going to do is increase the chances of a no deal given that May's deal will more than likely fail a third vote. The situation is so frustrating - I really hope a people's vote or second referendum occurs if there is a longer delay to brexit. I also hope May resigns soon, but given how she's somehow managed to hold on this long, I'm not betting on it.

The problem is is May resigns we're going to get the likes of Rees-Mogg and Leadsome vying for Leadership - both of whom are useless.

Right now the situation is just one big game of chicken and who moves first. The cynic in me suspects the EU are wanting us to accept May's Deal, plus Macron is performing poorly in France, so I can see why it's in his interest to take a bit of a stand from a PR perspective. I guess the issue is most people with a brain know No Deal is a terrible idea, but lots of MPs ate putting the Party first ahead of the country, leading us to a bit of a pickle where it's going to be impossible for May to wriggle out of just about...

Jermy Corbyn walking out of the opposition party meeting because of Chuka Umunna, then wow I genuinely have no words. How this man is fit to lead an opposition party I have no idea.

He's not and that's why he'll never be PM.

what a stroppy c**t he is. Doesn't care about Brexit at all, never has. Wants it. Labour supporters and Brexit supporters are equally gullible, how they can continue to support a man that clearly doesnt give a shit about their views or the country is beyond me.

If there is a Hell, it will be Corbyn and May sat in a room arguing about how their own slightly-different view on Brexit is better than the other's for the rest of eternity.....

He's not and that's why he'll never be PM.

The first thing we agree on (for now)!

This whole thing is a clusterf***. No deal practically guaranteed now :( I can’t even begin to fathom how bad this will be for us all.

Anyone seen May's statement blaming MPs? If only we had elected someone to lead Parliment..

Someone needs to explain to her what parliament is for. For somebody who has been an MP for over 20 years, her understanding of parliament’s role is pitiful.

My personal opinion is she has royally fuked herself and the country here. I can't see MPs voting for her deal and she's basically assuming no blame or responsibility. Who is advising her? She's going to go down in the history books for the wrong reasons. I've no idea what her strategy is at this point out, unless it's to do with the EU.

Trouble is, I don’t think she knows what her strategy is.

She wants us to go through another two years of this mess, only with no option to revoke or change minds. No benefitd to the deal at all except leaving the EU and be in a limbo like state for 2 years.

You mean we aren't already there? :w00t:

Sounds like she's majorly angered the very MP's like Nandy, that she needed to win over to get this vote through, blaming MP's for all this. She seems to be being almost universally condemned for that speech last night. Didn't see it but have seen the transcript.

Some desperate Left-wing tweeting journalists are trying to cheer on Corbyn for sticking up to his principles of hating neoliberals (this is apparently a more heinous crime than bombing your own people, denying democracy, and terrorism - see all the dubious politicians Corbyn has met throughout his elitist, privately-educated smug life).

Just to clarify what that means:

neo-liberalism

/ˌniːəʊˈlɪb(ə)r(ə)lɪz(ə)m/Submit

noun

noun: neoliberalism

a modified form of liberalism tending to favour free-market capitalism.

"social and political issues surrounding neo-liberalism"

TENDING TO FAVOUR.

This is in fact less extreme than Toryism, and all of the staunch far-right capitalists, and doesn't exclude social issues, nor does it mean just because you decide to make it a slur and use it to slag off anyone who is remotely not-far-left-wing make it true or in some way worse than murderous dictators.

Corbyn met May, who is FAR more right-wing than Umunna, so it was, despite all protestations to the contrary, nothing to do with principles and everything to do with personal vitriol and ego-stroking to his devoted brethren, the poor dears who have been so hurt by someone not agreeing with them and leaving. Totally intolerant, just as the far-left were in the 80's.

From my pov, some of even the near-left 'progressives' are intolerant (of dissent) too...

Meanwhile, just to help may understand that not everyone is a homogeneous single voice, this crashed as it now approaches 1 million signatures:

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/241584

will it help? Prob not. can it hurt? Def not.

I heard about this on FB this morning.

It seemed futile to me. Parliament is *already* discussing it, and even you must surely agree that it cannot, and should not, outweigh the 23/6/2016 vote.
