Billboard:

To that end, “Crave” with Swae Lee will become the de facto pop radio single upon its release, with an official music video to soon follow. Meanwhile, “Medellín” -- which received a global television launch across Viacom networks in April -- will continue being pushed in Latin markets. The decision to lead with “Medellín” instead of “Crave” came down to the belief that it was “the signature track to the body of work, and the right place to start telling the story,” says Thompson. He adds, “I think we have a good shot to get a top five club record with some [‘Medellín’]remixes, and get that song into people’s spaces that they might not anticipate.” (Madonna has notched a record 57 top five-charting hits on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart.)

Drowned Madonna:

EXCLUSIVE – We at DrownedMadonna.com are excited to reveal that Crave is planned to become the second single to be released from Madonna’s Madame X album.

Crave is a very cool and eclectic dance track. Someway, Medellín is like a set-up for the big single. Crave is indeed even a stronger single than Medellín.

We don’t have to wait too long for listening to it, because Crave is one of the 4 selected “pre-sale” tracks that will be available before Madame X release.

Precisely, Crave will be available next week, on May 10th, 2019.

Crave (feat. Swae Lee) is written by Madonna Ciccone, Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown and Brittany Talia Hazzard.

Recent reports are indicating 'Crave' is the next proper single, not just a 'pre-sale' track. I've kept this thread separate from a previous thread I made about the second single in case it turns out to be false (that thread talked about the drag queen video reportedly for a disco track, which people who were on set have inferred is for 'Killers That Are Partying') but I'll merge them together should they need to be.

Madonna relies of features so much nowerdays, to think she had so many years without them and now since Hard Candy we can’t get through an era without rent-a-rapper!

Even my deceased grandma can get a "top five club record". It's not really a huge achievement.

Well, I'd bloody hope so since Medellín isn't a very strong single at all.

She's desperate for a hit single tbh.

Apparently this has leaked with these being the lyrics:

[Verse 1: Madonna]

I'm tired of being far away from home

Far walking home, far from where it's safe

Hope it's not too late

Rush, rush, rush, on you, love, love, love on you

Love you like a fool, pull my dress to you

[Pre-Chorus: Madonna & Swae Lee]

'Cause you're the one I crave

And my cravings get dangerous

The feelings never fade

I don't think we should play with this

Said come, come get me straight

I don't think we should wait for this

'Cause you're the one I crave

And my cravings get dangerous

[Chorus: Madonna & Swae Lee]

(Ooh), My cravings get dangerous (ooh)

(Ooh), I don't think we should play with this

(Ooh), My cravings get dangerous (ooh)

(Ooh), I don't think we should wait

[Verse 2: Madonna & Swae Lee]

'Cause I'm just me (yeah), that's all I can be (ooh)

Something real (yeah), something I can feel

You know I just can't change, this is how I'm made

Am I afraid? Take me to the place

[Pre-Chorus: Madonna & Swae Lee]

'Cause you're the one I crave

And my cravings get dangerous

The feelings never fade

I don't think we should play with this

Said come, come get me straight

I don't think we should wait for this

'Cause you're the one I crave

And my cravings get dangerous

[Chorus: Madonna & Swae Lee]

(Ooh), My cravings get dangerous (ooh)

(Ooh), I don't think we should play with this

(Ooh), My cravings get dangerous (ooh)

(Ooh), I don't think we should wait

[Verse 3: Swae Lee]

You're on me, I don't think you should wait (wait)

You're on me (pull up), one pull up away (away)

You're down to ride, ride me like a wave (ride, yeah)

I gave you a sensation (ooh)

Loner, the days we used to chase

It's do or die, and my love life can get crazy (crazy)

It's on the line girl, you're risking everything (thing)

It's over, x-rated

[bridge: Madonna & Swae Lee]

Ran so far to try to find the thing I let and buried once inside, (side), of (of), me (me)

Ran and ran and ran so fast to think to last and buried once I hear, (hear), you (you), breathe (breathe)

[Pre-Chorus: Madonna & Swae Lee]

'Cause you're the one I crave

And my cravings get dangerous

The feelings never fade

I don't think we should play with this

Said come, come get me straight

I don't think we should wait for this

'Cause you're the one I crave

And my cravings get dangerous

[Chorus: Madonna & Swae Lee]

(Ooh), My cravings get dangerous (ooh)

(Ooh), I don't think we should play with this

(Ooh), My cravings get dangerous (ayy, ooh)

(Ooh), I don't think we should wait

[Outro: Swae Lee]

It's on the line girl, you're risking everything

It has leaked , this is no banger. No way a dance track.

Nice song , can’t see this doing anything.

Swae Lee certainly adds to the track , his vocal suits the song more.

Can imagine Charli doing this, her voice would fit it really well.

Doesn’t work with Madonna’s voice at all.

Our first disagreement 💔

It reminds me of the slower acoustic moments on American Life but with an 808 and 2019 production. I think both her and Swae sound great.

I'm intrigued how both this and 'I Rise' (which is boring) fit into the Portugal-inspired album though.

Just found a link to the song and, three listens in, it's growing fast. Probably the most melodic out of the three songs we've heard so far but it's got a really chill vibe and subtle hooks. Giving my 'Body Shop'/'Best Night' kinda vibes.

It's not at all what I expected a Madonna and Swae Lee collab would be like. If you feared it would sound very bandwagon-jumping, don't worry. It does feel current but, like 'Medellin', it strikes that balance just right.

I really like this on first listen, I can see it growing too! The melody is strong but it's also subtle and leaves a lot of room to grow.

I can definitely hear Charli XCX fitting this too, not to the point of disliking it or it not feeling like Madonna but I can see where that comes from for sure!

I think this is my favourite from the album so far.

I can see why Medellin was the lead as it’s more in your face but this is perhaps better and for UK audiences I think this should perform better than that did at least.

There were rumours just before the era kicked off that there would be two lead singles: one for Latin markets and one for pop radio. I guess 'Crave' fits the latter. This definitely sounds like the sort of song that could be a hit today, although I'm kinda over thinking about chart success now. So long as the music is as good as it has been!

'Medellin' is still my favourite so far but I could see 'Crave' overtaking in the end, especially if it has another cinematic video that lifts the song further. Her voice is so romantic and emotional, possibly the best it's sounded on record for sometime!

This has grown on me .

Number 79 on iTunes .

He’s bit is still the best but in the song. I’m not sure holding back the official videos is helping the peak position .

Medellin is still my fav , but this is better than Rise.
