I think you’re mis-understanding the situation. All that will happen now is the moderates will take on the role of the the 1922 committee. Probably some more resignations tonight and tomorrow so they can coordinate against any No Deal that is put through. Maybe even some defections depending on the real vision outlined.

 

Either way it’s a thin line to tred, as looks likely there might be a general election in October.

What we will probably see is no-one being able to command a majority. Labour won't win outright you are right there, but they could plausibly lead a coalition with the Lib Dems. If the smaller parties are strategic enough they could easily win some of the marginal seats.

 

Not sure where you are getting Boris is massively popular from? He's like Trump - a truly divisive figure. He was popular as Mayor of London and when he was a media magnet, but I think he's largely seen as a joke now. Trump is hardly popular, he just knows how to win over the numpties.

One word I learnt from this is akratic, meaning: characterized by weakness of will resulting in action against one's better judgement. - the word that accurately sums him (and his supporters) up for me.

The Times reports that Priti Patel is to be offered the job of new Home Secretary. Hunt's apparently been offered Defence but has refused as he wants to either stay at the Foreign Office or get one of the other two Great Offices of State. Sajid Javid hot tip to be new chancellor.

Sky said earlier that Boris is on record as saying that the job of PM is "just a bit of a laugh really" They didn't say if it was in his newspaper column or in an interview. I don't agree with him on that as it's a serious and important job.

Boris is now officially Prime Minister of The United Kingdom. He'll visit The Queen with his girlfriend at Balmoral in late August or early September but she didn't go to the palace with him. She's outside No.10 though.

 

Speaking now and he's re-iterated that we're leaving the EU on October 31st. Let's hope so. :)

We aren't. He can bluster all he likes but because of this ridiculous time-wasting and stupid political rhetoric about desiring unicorns, I cannot see a situation where it's all done by October.

 

This was going around earlier. I don't entirely agree with all of its probabilities, I'd weigh a lot more towards can-kicking and extension begging, but I agree that I think a general election is a quite likely outcome of this:

My wife's very rich employers are Tories obviously but hate Boris and both voted for Hunt. They say he's like an overgrown baby and totally the wrong person for the job.
