If only Sanna got in a year earlier with Undo, I think she could have been another win for them, what a song, my 2nd fave of Sweden from this decade behind of course Euphoria.

This year Sweden was pretty close but no cigar. I liked it but not enough to vote. Their consistency is amazing though:

2010: failed to qualify (travesty!)

2011: #3

2012: #1

2013: #14

2014: #3

2015: #1

2016: #5

2017: #5

2018: #7

2019: #6

I mean that is AMAZING track record.

The juries are so far ip their arse

Well I didn't think much of the winning song this year but glad to see Italy in 2nd, on balance that was probably my entry this year.

UK last  well that entry was garbage even by our standards!

My 4th live Eurovision, and despite the crazy expense of Israel (almost £10 for a McDonalds?!) the organisation was really good this year, free shuttle buses taking you to and from the venue and I was given a free 1ltr bottle of water by staff on arriving early to the queue, which in almost 30 degree heat was really appreciated.

Disappointed for Malta and Greece, who were my two pre-contest favourites but neither quite worked on the night, Greece especially played to a totally disinterested crowd which they really didn't deserve. In contrast my highlight of the evening was Norway storming the televote, fantastic result!

Not a great crowd where I was standing, lots of half-interested locals who only perked up during Israel's entry and many of them left the arena the moment Madonna finished performing. Someone shouted "Go home" to Michael Rice at the end of Bigger Than Us, which sums the UK reaction up. Happy for The Netherlands but ticket sales will be a bloodbath next year, its close proximity to three of the Big 5 means I can see it being the hardest to buy tickets for since Stockholm. Hoping to actually bring some friends next time too :P

My results, as quickly typed on my phone after the last song:

12 Australia

10 Norway

8 Switzerland

7 Denmark

6 Spain

5 Sweden

4 Italy

3 Netherlands

2 Malta

1 Greece

Azerbaiijan would have been next but thinking Slovenia could be a grower. Spain are a bit artificially high due to the arena going properly mental during it thanks to all the supportive Spanish fans - every year I think they're going to do well until the votes bring everyone back down to earth.

I had no idea what the hell happened with Belarus's votes until I read this thread, I burst out laughing at the 12 point reveal - I thought they'd either got the order the wrong way around or it was some weird troll/protest result  Roll on next May!

  1. Norway - 'Spirit in the Sky' 9/10
  2. Iceland - 'Hatrið mun sigra' 9/10
  3. Australia - 'Zero Gravity' 9/10
  4. Estonia - 'Storm' 9/10
  5. Sweden - 'Too Late For Love' 8/10
  6. Malta - 'Chameleon' 8/10
  7. Switzerland - 'She Got Me' 8/10
  8. Azerbaijan - 'Truth' 8/10
  9. Italy - 'Soldi' 7.5/10
  10. Russia - 'Scream' 7/10
  11. Czech Republic 'Friend of a Friend' 7/10
  12. Cyprus - 'Replay' 7/10
  13. Belarus - 'Like It' 7/10
  14. Spain - 'La venda' 7/10
  15. Netherlands - 'Arcade' 6.5/10
  16. Slovenia - 'Sebi' 6.5/10
  17. North Macedonia - 'Proud' 6.5/10

  24. Greece - 'Better Love' 5/10
  25. France - 'Roi' 5/10
  26. Israel - 'Home' 4/10

ugh at Norway being screwed over by the juries, but at least they came top 5 regardless (and Iceland top 10). disappointing for Australia too, I thought they'd be top 5. our entry wasn't quite the worst for me but we totally deserved that last place with how minimal the effort was. the winning song was decent but not a vintage winner for me either.

Netherlands is a credible winner but likely not vintage. For me its the best winner in the last few years as I hated the last 2 winners.
Uk televote was amazing

12 Norway

10 Australia

8 Iceland

7 Switzerland

6 Denmark

5 Sweden

4 Netherlands

3 Spain

2 Azerbaijan

1 Cyprus

So much better without Lithuania, Poland, Bulgaria and Latvia to take all out pints

9 of these were in my Top 12; Malta, France & Estonia being Top 10. Identical Top 3 - would *just about* swap Australia and Norway around, but they’re both incredible!

Overall, can we just call the televote the official vote! It’s much improved without the juries’ influence (aside from a few exceptions).

~quick comments~

very glad Soldi lived up to the early hype (got it each way last night at 18/1), such an infectious song CLAP CLAP

a few pleasing results beside that like Norway smashing the televote (idk who these jury "experts" are but they need to find better ones) and Macedonia plus Hatari being fucking icons as usual

and the UK's wooden tune getting the wooden spoon, whoops

Late thoughts ~

Slovenia was my favourite of the night by a significant margin, seems like it was a pretty divisive one on here being ranked 1st for me, Jade, Jacob and Jordan but... was it even in anyone else's top 10? Chez you disappoint me ranking Australia so high but Slovenia nowhere, surely it should be your thing xx Pleased enough with a top half scrape for that as it didn't seem like a particularly hyped entry.

Although I didn't stan 'Hatrið Mun Sigra' as much as I expected to it was still fantastic to see it fighting through the expectedly mediocre jury score to still finish top 10, knew it'd do better in the public vote but there was no guarantee it'd be too high up in that either after what happened to AWS last year!

Norway was a pretty good public vote winner and I liked Sweden's song a lot as well so also a good jury winner (I was almost rooting for North Macedonia for the sheer randomness though, even though I thought the song sounded like a completely generic string of Eurovision platitudes, almost sounded like a UK entry even, no wonder our jury gave it 12 points ) but I'm really not getting the hype around 'Arcade', just seemed like a very ordinary song to me. Not the worst winner of recent times by any means but definitely the one that least sounded like a standout to me, perhaps since 'Running Scared'. WD Duncan anyway and it is cool to see Netherlands getting their first win for quite some time, just hope I like their song more next year as I'm not sure I've ever particularly liked a Dutch entry oops x

The UK coming last was... not surprising at all, didn't deserve to do that badly (lower than Germany really? what were some of those juries on, unless the vocal performance was significantly better during the jury performance :drama:) but at the same time it was yet another entry from us that is merely 'decent' and it's hard to imagine it motivating anyone to want to actually vote for it.

Oh and Serhat is a true icon. Top 10 on the public vote *.* lmao

So I just shared a plane with Katerine Duska I think :P I have a 24 hour stopover in Athens as that was the cheapest flight back to London when I booked, and at Arrivals there's a massive crowd and TV camera crew...minutes later out walks Katerine! Interview and a improptu sing-along of Better Love from the crowd to welcome her home :D

Best song for me. Although, Soldi has been closing in fast today.

But the Slovenia entry only used three notes

I don't really care what notes are in it as long as it doesn't include that ear piercing note Kate Miller-Heidke insisted on using x
I’m clearly divided from my taste contemporaries on this one, but as a performance, Slovenia was sleep inducing and excruciatingly awkward oops xx

I felt the same on Slovenia.
