May 20, 20197 yr Eurovision has had a reputation of just being a TV show and a bit of a laugh rather than a source of new music in this country for as long as I can remember, a shame as there are plenty of Eurovision songs that could easily be big hits if they didn't have the Eurovision tag attached. 'Euphoria' came pretty close at least.
May 20, 20197 yr I don't get why the UK doesn't stream the ESC songs, in Finland there are 3 in top 40 on Spotify Arcade being #11. Because they're usually rubbish :P

May 20, 20197 yr The Common Linnets got to #9! (although admittedly that was just before streaming was introduced so the chart was peppered with Eurovision tracks taking advantage of the lower sales)
May 20, 20197 yr Log out of your account and never return I misread the post and thought he was just on about the UK entry! There were loads of good ones this year, particularly Lake Malawi and Hatari!
May 20, 20197 yr 'Euphoria' is the only recent Eurovision song that's actually maintained a decently long chart run (as well as being the highest charting) is more the point I was making! Of course a few others have got decently high first week positions (Rybak going top 10 and Conchita top 20 as well as those mentioned already) but they tend to disappear very quickly.

May 21, 20197 yr Looks like we're heading for another year without any Eurovision entries in the top 40 then I'm guessing. :(
May 21, 20197 yr Nice to see Grace getting a repeak this far into its run but he really did screw HMWYW with his SYL strategy the other week.
May 21, 20197 yr Eurovision update - improvements for the 3 that were in already plus 2 newbies: 53 Norway (up from 66 yesterday) 63 Netherlands (up from 77 yesterday) 83 Italy 98 Switzerland 99 United Kingdom (up from 100 yesterday) Edited May 21, 20197 yr by Burns
May 21, 20197 yr Hmm, glad it's improved but I was hoping for a bigger gain today for Norway and the Netherlands.

May 21, 20197 yr Thanks, I really thought Norway would go top 40 :( Whilst they’ve been high on iTunes etc it just doesn’t equate to many sales anymore. We will sadly see the Eurovision effect fade away as streaming becomes more and more dominant until such a time the UK takes it more seriously :(
