22. Starstrukk (3OH!3 feat. Katy Perry) - 7.15

11 ~ N/A 10 ~ Josh!, LMLou, Mack, UltraME!

US peak: #66

UK peak: #3

Up next is a "remix" of 3OH!3's single 'Starstrukk'. Katy was added to the song right in between her OOTB & Teenage Dream eras and it was a really smart way to keep her name out there and exposed whilst everyone was waiting for her new era. The original is fantastic enough, but Katy's addition really added something to it. An almighty banger and very underrated in her discog I feel.

What?

How can 'Starstrukk' have gone already? Man, this is a tune from 3OH!3 and Katy. And like Ultra said, I would still go back to this.

I thought the Timbaland collab would be lower :o (happy it's not though *.*)

21. Thinking Of You - 7.16

At #21 is the power ballad 'Thinking Of You'. This song is very basic, singer-songwritery big pop power ballad. It's effective but a bit "oh that's nice" for me. Thankfully the longer she got into her career, the better these big ballads became. I'd personally say this is probs about a fair finish for this song.

Into the top 20 we go and we say farewell to, quite possibly, her most underrated single (at least to me anyway). 'This Is How We Do' is one of the breeziest, chilled, laidback and most infectious Summer pop anthems you are likely to ever hear. It was always a fave of mine from first listen of the album, but I really wasn't sure if it would work as a single. Turns out it wasn't such a drastic decision after all. It was a moderately big single by having some longevity despite the meh peaks iirc. Banger.

Ugh sad to see This is How We Do AND Starstrukk out already, both such fun bops

If we ever meet again still being in is a LOL

This Is How We Do making the top 20 without my help *.* (Sorry Joe)

Somehow I like Starstrukk even more now than I did at the time, never would've thought a 3OH!3 song would be capable of aging well :P

Part Of Me - Not aged very well and sounds more like a demo than an actual single, at the time I thought this wasn't bad, but compared to the other amazing 'Teenage Dream' singles - this falls short. The only positive note is that it kept the 'TD' era going for a lot longer.

Starstrukk - Never liked this one, even back then found it annoying and those 30H!3 guys were just awful & thank god they weren't relevant for very long (the song they did with Kesha 'Blah, Blah, Blah, was one of the worst songs of all-time). This song has now aged really badly with its terrible auto-tune and not even Katy could save this mess, it didn't deserve to be as successful as it was.

Thinking Of You - Very MEH & not something I go back to anymore, and doesn't compare to the other fantastic singles from this album. When this flopped at the time, I was rather worried that Katy wasn't gonna last, but thankfully 'Waking Up In Vegas' came out and set her back on the right track to further success.

This Is How We Do - This has grown on me recently and when 'Prism' came out, I thought this was a great album track and probably should have stayed on the album. However I still don't think it should have been a single though, and plus it didn't stand much of a chance following the under-performance of the previous single 'Birthday' (despite being touted by critics as a standout on the album), plus the fact that it was single #5, didn't help either, and it was no way this was gonna turn things around.

But the song itself is very fun and had a great colourful music video (one of the best from the era). This is how I would have picked the 'Prism' singles = "Roar" - "Unconditionally" - "Dark Horse" - "Walking On Air" - "Birthday" - "By The Grace of God".

All 3 slay and are among her best.

19. Calvin Harris feat. Pharrell Williams, Big Sean & Katy Perry - 7.37

11 ~ N/A, 10 ~ Jase, josh!, gavindeejay

2 ~ YltraME! , 3 ~ PAJ88

US peak: #20

UK peak: #01

At #19 is Katy's most recent UK #1 smash. Her collaboration with Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams & Big Sean. It's a good song. But it's a bit "ehhh" when it's put in a list with her other singles. The best thing about this song is that I often mishear the chorus as "don't be afraid to catch fish". It's good but a bit bland. But woo for another Katy #1!
