I really love "Uncle-de-Sean-allyyyyy", although I do now get that trying to stretch that word into being the main hook does sound slightly awkward.

 

Deserved a lot better anyhow. I feel like 'Roar' still riding high and being all over the radio hampered it a bit, plus December 2013 really was hectic.

Swish Swish is honestly excellent, one of my absolute faves! Never quite got the Bon Appétit love like many of you but it's fun. Unconditionally is gorgeous :wub: none of the aforementioned should've been beaten by If We Ever Meet Again x

This is probably the biggest surprise of the rate for me. Despite a healthy average over 8, only coming in at #14 (and only only place ahead of 'If We Ever Meet Again' of all songs) when you're arguably Katy's most iconic single (Roar can fight for this too) is not what I think a lot of us would have guessed. It's one of Katy's 3 diamond singles in the US along with 'Dark Horse' and 'Roar' (I hear 'ET' is eligible now, too), and is a song that the casuals will always love. Katy will never escape this one. It's never been my favourite of Katy's but I do love the "boom boom boom" middle 8 a lot.

Her worst single, it goes right through me now. I didn't like it at the time either really. :(

I think 'Firework' is a great song, it's just been so overplayed over the last few years that I struggle to find enjoyment in it now.

Who knew Timbaland had so many fans?! :lol: I loves If We Ever Meet Again at the time but find it SO dated now. Firework is undeniably a classic but I'm not surprised to see it finish so low here

Firework is a Katy staple, but I find it ridiculously overrated. I never rated it much when I heard the album either.

Firework is her best ‘signature’ like song in my opinion where as Roar is among my least favourite things she’s ever done.

16. Unconditionally - 7.77

'Unconditionally' is a cute ballad that was infamously cannibalised by 'Dark Horse', which meant Katy had to move on faster than expected. It's also known for Katy's Japanese inspired performance at the AMAs where she wore a kimono and whitened her face, which got her in trouble for cultural appropriation. Probelmatic-ness aside, it's a rather beautiful performance and one of her best. Her Asian fans when asked all loved the homage to their culture.

 

This just made me choke.

 

I just listened to the Timbaland song again and would have rated it lower had I remembered how boring it was~
