Bieber sings lead on much of the song, with lyrics that seemingly touch on some of his very public struggles with depression: “With all these people all around I'm crippled with anxiety/I can deal with the bad nights/When I'm with my baby.” Nonetheless, the breezy beat, featuring rhythmic nods to dancehall à la Ed’s “Shape of You,” helps keeps the mood bright. Let the battle for song of the summer begin. - iTunes Chart Statistics NE (23/05/2019) | 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-x RE (01/08/2019) | 3-3-3-21-20 Sales: 900k+ Certification: Platinum Status: Accelerated Chart Ratio 01 Sales 01 Audio Streaming 01 Video Streaming Video y83x7MgzWOA Biography Ed Sheeran Edward Christopher Sheeran, MBE (/ˈʃɪərən/; born 17 February 1991) is an English singer-songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and actor. On the strength of his lone single, the Bathgate native sold out legendary Glasgow club King Tut's and notched millions of streams before dropping his follow-up single, the equally stark "Lost on You," later that summer. After signing with Virgin Records, Capaldi included both songs on his debut EP, Bloom, and capped off his banner year with a Scottish Music Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. The front half of 2018 was spent touring in North America and Europe in advance of his next single, "Rush," featuring Jessie Reyez. August 23, 20197 yr 18 | | 1st week Jorja Smith featuring Burna Boy Be Honest 1st single from second studio album Released: 16th August 2019 Label: FAMM Chart Statistics NE (29/08/2019) | 18 Sales: - Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio TBA Sales TBA Audio Streaming TBA Video Streaming Video hQsZUVMwEls Biography Jorja Smith is an English R&B singer/songwriter whose soulful, jazz-tinged cadence, heartfelt lyrics, and retro sound have invoked comparisons to the likes of AlunaGeorge, Rihanna, and Amy Winehouse, the latter of whom the Walsall-based artist cites as her biggest influence. Within a three-year span, Smith appeared on the U.K. indie chart with her moody, MOBO-nominated debut single "Blue Lights" (2016), nearly cracked the Top Ten of the U.K. dance chart with "On My Mind" (2017), and after three additional MOBO nominations crossed into the Top 40 with the Stormzy-assisted ballad "Let Me Down" (2018). During this time, Smith also contributed to Drake's More Life playlist and the Kendrick Lamar-guided soundtrack for Black Panther, audience-expanding releases that intensified anticipation for her debut album, Lost & Found (June 2018). Raised on reggae, soul, and hip-hop, Jorja Smith was encouraged to pursue music by her musician father. She started performing at the age of eight, shortly thereafter began writing original songs, and later earned a music scholarship. After she completed her studies, while still a teenager, she made her recorded debut in 2016 with "Blue Lights," a hip-hop soul single inspired by racist police motives. The song, issued through her own FAMM label, reached number 22 on the U.K. indie chart and was nominated for a MOBO award in the category of Best Song. By the end of 2016, she also added the Maverick Sabre collaboration "A Prince," the powerful "Where Did I Go?," and the five-track EP Project 11 to her discography. Smith's international profile was elevated in 2017 with contributions to Drake's playlist More Life. Both of the songs on which she appeared, "Jorja Interlude" and "Get It Together," charted in multiple territories. A handful of additional solo singles, beginning with "Beautiful Little Fools" and "Teenage Fantasy," and concluding with "On My Mind," arrived throughout 2017. The last of the batch reached number five on the U.K. indie chart and peaked at number 54 on the pop chart. MOBO nominations followed for Best Female, Best Newcomer, and Best R&B/Soul Act. In early 2018, she released the dark and moody "Let Me Down," which featured grime artist Stormzy and eventually peaked at number 34 on the pop chart. Perhaps even more notably, she appeared on the Black Panther soundtrack with "I Am," a collaboration with album orchestrator Kendrick Lamar. Lost & Found, Smith's debut album, followed only a few months later. - iTunes Top 100 Chart History Jorja Smith 2017 24 Get It Together (Drake feat. August 23, 20197 yr Eeek not sure I'm liking the sample usage in this. Reminds me of Dot Rotten's Overload in that sense... I actually liked 'Overload' as well despite the sacrilege sample usage lol. ~ I was quite looking forward to hearing this Jorja song but it doesn't really do anything for me sadly.
August 23, 20197 yr It'll be hard for Jorja to ever top 'Blue Lights' for me but this newie is pretty good!
August 23, 20197 yr Great start by Jorja Smith, will easily be her biggest hit. Top 10 next week looks possible!! Teenage Fantasy was my fav from her debut. Edited August 23, 20197 yr by Steve201
August 23, 20197 yr Lol at SYL overtaking HMWYW again! Truly the biggest hit of 2019. It's only been behind for so long because SYL has been on ACR. HMWYW is now also on ACR so the balance is restored!
August 23, 20197 yr One of those songs I'd need a hear a few more times before deciding. Only a matter of time before she gets a top 10 I would think.
