Biography

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande-Butera (/ˌɑːriˈɑːnə ˈɡrɑːndeɪ/; born June 26, 1993) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. A multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning recording artist, she is known for her wide vocal range, which critics have often compared to that of Mariah Carey. Born in Boca Raton, Florida, Grande began her career in 2008 in the Broadway musical, 13. She rose to prominence for her role as Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon television series, Victorious (2010–2013) and in its spin-off, Sam & Cat (2013–2014). As she grew interested in pursuing a music career, Grande recorded songs for the soundtrack of Victorious and signed with Republic Records in 2011 after the label's executives discovered videos of her covering songs that she uploaded onto YouTube. She released her debut album, Yours Truly, in 2013. A 1950s doo-wop-influenced pop and R&B album, it debuted atop the US Billboard 200 and spawned her first US top-ten single, "The Way", featuring rapper Mac Miller.

Grande's second studio album, My Everything (2014), continued the pop-R&B sound of its predecessor and incorporated EDM elements. It topped the Billboard 200 and featured four US top-ten singles: "Problem", "Break Free", "Bang Bang", and "Love Me Harder", the most of any artist that year. Grande's pop-R&B styles extended on her third studio album, Dangerous Woman (2016), which was her first of three consecutive number-one albums in the UK. On her next two albums, Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019), Grande experimented with trap while maintaining her characteristic pop-R&B tones; both topped the Billboard 200, while the former won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album and the latter broke several streaming records. Grande became the first solo artist to hold the top three spots on the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously when "7 Rings", "Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored" and "Thank U, Next" did so in 2019. She is also the first artist to have the lead singles from each of their first five studio albums debut within the top ten in the US.

Grande has received various accolades, including one Grammy Award, one Brit Award, two Billboard Music Awards, and three American Music Awards. She has amassed over 30 billion streams on streaming platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music and is the most listened female on the latter two. An influential figure on social media, she is an outspoken feminist and supporter for LGBT rights. She asserts control over her public image and is known for her ponytail hairdo and bold fashion statements. In February 2019, she became the most followed woman on Instagram. Forbes ranked her amongst the highest-paid celebrities in 2019, and Time named Grande as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2016 and 2019. Billboard recognized her as the "Woman of the Year" in 2018. - Wikipedia

Social House

Pennsylvania natives Michael "Mikey" Foster and Charles "Scootie" Anderson teamed up to form the duo Social House, delivering feel-good rhythmic pop for other artists before making their official debut with the 2018 single "Magic in the Hamptons."

The pair met in Pittsburgh and moved to Los Angeles, signing to a joint venture with Scooter Braun's SB Projects and Interscope Records. Along with frequent collaborator Tommy Brown, Social House co-wrote tracks for Ariana Grande, Meghan Trainor, and DJ Khaled. In 2018, the trio also contributed to Jennifer Lopez's "Dinero" with Khaled and Cardi B. Later that summer, Social House made their official debut with the single "Magic in the Hamptons," which featured guest Lil Yachty. - iTunes

Biography

Born in Spain and raised in London and Sweden, McVey showed a deep interest in music during early childhood and studied music production. Her parents didn't know that she was writing music until she was 16. Before she turned 20, she released her debut single, the independently released "Know Me Better" -- a moody, yearning piece of breakbeat soul. Signed to Polydor, she had her second single, "My Boy My Town," out by the end of 2015. Shortly after that, she was nominated in the BBC Sound of 2016 poll (won by Jack Garratt). In 2017, she delivered the mixtape Ivy to Roses, which included the platinum-certified single "Finders Keepers," featuring Kojo Funds. After opening for Harry Styles on his 2018 European tour, she joined Jax Jones and Rich the Kid on hit single "Ring Ring" before issuing her single "One Shot." - iTunes

Strike a Pose is great now actually, a real earworm. Slowly but surely moving towards the top 10!

Ooh that's a smaller fall than I was expecting for 'boyfriend' this week, yay!

These last couple of Mabel songs have been trash :( 'Fine Line' deserved this success instead </3

Oh bore off Mabel. Skipping Ari for this. The sooner this hits ACR, the better

The longevity of 'Strike A Pose' is really impressive, wonder if it may yet have a chance of giving Aitch a belated second top 10 hit.

Can 'Mad Love' please be exiled to a different dimension already.

This is such a massive comedown from the fantastic Don't Call Me Up.

This is such a massive comedown from the fantastic Don't Call Me Up.

Don't Call Me Up was not fantastic either.

I maintain that Mad Love is Mabel's best song

Biography

Edward Christopher Sheeran, MBE (/ˈʃɪərən/; born 17 February 1991) is an English singer-songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and actor. He attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford as an undergraduate from the age of 18 in 2009. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released the extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project. After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (pronounced "plus"), was released in September 2011. It topped the UK and Australian charts, reached number five in the US, and has since been certified seven-times platinum in the UK. The album contains the single "The A Team", which earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. "The A Team" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards, where he performed the song with Elton John.

His second studio album, x (pronounced "multiply"), was released in June 2014. It peaked at number one in the UK and the US, and was named the second-best-selling album worldwide of 2015. In 2015, x won the Brit Award for Album of the Year, and he received the Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. His single from x, "Thinking Out Loud", earned him two Grammy Awards at the 2016 ceremony: Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Sheeran's third album, ÷ (pronounced "divide"), was released in March 2017. The album debuted at number one in the UK, the US and other major markets, and was the best-selling album worldwide of 2017. The first two singles from the album, "Shape of You" and "Castle on the Hill", were released in January 2017 and broke records in a number of countries, including the UK, Australia and Germany, by debuting in the top two positions of the charts. He also became the first artist to have two songs debut in the US top 10 in the same week. By March 2017, Sheeran had accumulated ten top 10 singles from ÷ on the UK Singles Chart, breaking the record for most top 10 UK singles from one album. His fourth single from ÷, "Perfect", reached number one in the US, Australia and the UK, where it became the Christmas number one in 2017.

Sheeran has sold more than 150 million records worldwide, making him one of the world's best-selling music artists. Two of his albums are in the list of the best-selling albums in UK chart history: x at number 20, and ÷ at number 34. Beginning in March 2017, his ÷ Tour is the highest-grossing of all time by a solo artist. An alumnus of the National Youth Theatre in London, as an actor Sheeran has portrayed a recurring role on The bast*rd Executioner, and in 2019, he appeared in the Richard Curtis/Danny Boyle film Yesterday. - Wikipedia

I was hoping for Joel to stall at #11

I maintain that Mad Love is Mabel's best song

Personally I find it one of her weakest

I wasn't really feeling 'Take Me Back To London' when I initially cherry picked some songs to listen to from his latest project, but it's growing now!

Is there any chance of adding group hits to a solo artists chart history? I know it's not the same as solo hits but it would be interesting to count up how many top 40's (etc) an artist has had with their respective group hits included - ie Normani in Fifth Harmony etc. Just a suggestion.

So Joel Corry is top ten. Oh.

YES JOEL CORRY TOP 10 :cheer:

Really liking this song now after initially being unsure. It's no Cross Me but definitely a highlight from the album.

We're gonna stick to solo hits for now because otherwise it'll be confusing!

Eww not this actually going top 10! Such an uninspired version of the brilliant original :(
