Drag Race Poland is supposedly filming atm and it’s kind of a shock as nobody clocked it, no announcement, nothing, a picture of 5 queens filming leaked and some people have said it’s for different drag show but apparently the stages don’t match, interesting

It’s crazy that there are more spoiler threads with more activity than the actual drag race seasons. Really puts me off even visiting, besides I don’t understand the appeal of potentially know every single result weeks before. Let’s just rename the forum to Rupauls spoilers race :’)

Really sorry this is putting you off visiting the AF @pavi 😢 We have been trying behind the scenes to consolidate everything into more concise threads to keep both sides happy, but I understand that with so many versions of the show and there being 'demand' for spoilers we end up with basically the whole first page full of spoiler threads that are hard to avoid.

Unfortunately it's not something exclusive to here too. Drag Race spoiler culture in general has become such a 'thing' that I've seen commentary about on social media recently.

If you have any suggestions feel free to chip in, I'd rather have an open discussion with everyone about what works for us all and makes people comfortable visiting without fearing they're going to accidentally dive into a load of spoilers or feel like those threads are replacing actual discussion when the seasons are broadcast.

From her Insta stories, Canada winner Venus was abducted, assaulted and robbed by police while in Mexico. Truly frightening stuff, hope she's okay!!

Nobody bothers to post in the actual threads and haven’t for ages, to a point at times it feels like there doesn’t need to be a forum lol Like we’ve just had a finale and barely got any discussion about it, a lot of the international seasons pass by with absolutely nothing, and it’s not even since the new site it’s been absolutely ages, one of the reasons I left as a mod was because it was frustrating trying to drum up discussion and nobody bothered. People seem to just flit in, post a ranking with zero discussion or anything, and then that’s it. I personally like knowing spoilers and speculating things which is fun with the people on here who I like. I don’t think it’s fair to expect that to stop entirely when it is confined to its own threads and the mods have already gone out of their way to strike a balance.

Perhaps we have just one casting thread (surely people don’t really care about that as a spoiler and it is one of the fun parts when it’s early filming seeing who’s on) and then one for placements etc regardless of the series or franchise, and maybe just don’t bother with the international season spoilers that nobody will discuss and it feels like only I watch lol.

Thanks for the insight, Liam. Just out of curiosity to get an outsider perspective as I know you don't really post your own rankings in the threads... do you think it could be worthwhile removing the ranking threads and just having people post their rankings in the season discussion threads themselves? I like posting rankings myself and always make an effort to comment on the episodes themselves too, but I realise not everybody does that like you say.

On your second point would having threads for castings, placements and such for all different seasons be helpful for those of you that do enjoy discussing and dipping in and out of spoiler threads or potentially be worse? I don't want those of you that enjoy coming here to talk about spoilers feel like you shouldn't or can't. We can keep going with trialling spoiler threads for each version of the show at the moment but I'd hope people that feel it's a problem can come to the table with other suggestions too.

The ranking threads are fine for me tbh, I just don’t go in a thread if I’m not interested in it, which is how I go for the whole site tbh. And the point of having a subforum and not just a thread in a TV forum is to have different threads for different things so I think a ranking thread is fine.

And I don’t know why that can’t be the case with spoiler threads. I know the new site doesn’t have spoiler tags which isn’t great but I don’t think it’s hard to just avoid threads you don’t want to see?

I am fine with how it is with this trial currently tbh, I literally read the spoilers for everything so if it was just one big spoiler thread there’s nothing I would read that I wouldn’t want to. But personally I think having one for each “arm” of the franchise is fine and it lessens threads but doesn’t totally minimise them for those that want to discuss them. And I think that’s better for people who want to see certain things but not others. Like I know some people were curious about AS10 so looked but don’t necessarily want to know anything about a main series, or they might want to peek into a thread early in the season to see the cast but not afterwards when they might get placement spoilers.

That's just how I’ve always been like I’m ingrained in the Reddit, and I can’t know that a season is filmed say a year in advance and not go and look at what’s happened lol The reason I started posting them here back when I was a mod was because I thought it would bring discussion and I figured it might be nice for people who only want to know certain things to have a place where things were collated, not just scattered on a subreddit or discord server.

Let's see how things go with how the threads are set up at the moment then. It's probably the most achievable happy medium for both sides as we have minimised everything as much as possible for those that don't want to see spoilers. Thanks for giving your POV on things, don't want to get to a place where people are being driven away from the AF because they can't talk about what interests them and involves them in the community.

I think the merging of the spoiler threads works quite well. Also I really like the spoilers as I love seeing what ludicrous things are rumoured early on that unravel as the season goes on. Plus I feel like I get even more invested in seasons weirdly enough.

I would be more active with the international seasons but there's so many at this point I can barely keep up lol Trying to mainly stick to US/UK and the odd spin-off season here or there (UK or Canada vs The World/Global All Stars etc).

Agreed! I think it kind of gets me more excited, it prolongs the season in a way because you have that casting process, you have the initial tea, it’s like a little teaser for the season. I’m weird in that I also feel like I have to be prepared if anything drastic happens like a Pangina type elim lol

Tbh people not watching the international seasons isn’t a problem as such, I don’t expect that, I think maybe where there isn’t a market we just don’t need to add say another spoiler thread for Brazil or some of the new franchises for example when I don’t think there’s a market for discussing it and that maybe adds more “clutter” in terms of spoilers? Whereas obviously when UK vs The World has filmed or an All Stars, there is naturally going to be way more spoilers floating around.

Crucially I think the spoilers having their corner does kind of give this forum a niche and some life?

I think my opinion on the spoiler threads is that it keeps up our discussion/engagement in the off-season. It's kind of in my (/our) interest to not clamp down on discussion topics that members of the community want to have that fall under the umbrella of Drag Race, given that our continued existence is dependent on our level of engagement and discussions/posts.

Perhaps we could trial doing something different with what's pinned and what's not pinned.

Also noting that anyone can create posts any time they'd like to to drive discussion or share their opinions; which would be an organic way of meaning that the spoiler threads aren't 'all that is posted' - they are being posted (and commented in) by people that have an interest in them, but if there are other aspects of Drag Race that you other members would prefer to discuss, please do post any other kinds of threads and we can go for a free for all. Ultimately, this is meant to be a fan space and that applies whether what appeals to you most is tv production dissection in the spoiler threads, community commentary as it airs, ranking or judging etc., or something like just appreciating certain queens, costumes or performances.

In that regard I think there's a lot more discussion that we could be having and I for one would welcome it.

Drag Race Philippines Season 1's Miss Congeniality, Lady Morgana, has been accused of sexual assault, and she basically admitted it.

From what I've seen, a lot of people are turning against Mistress for her behaviour both on and off the show.

It’s all absolutely wild over KERRI COLBY lol I understand that it’s probably frustrating for her but she did not deserve to make the merge. No shade but she feels like filler casting and was lucky to have this little arc to not be totally forgettable.

Like going on about it being “fair”, why should it be?? Why is making the merge based on points when you did badly in the first two challenges, in Kerri’s case, because people played Mistress at her own game, more valid? These fans would not last a single episode watching the likes of Survivor or Big Brother. If anything I do get Tina being annoyed but even then, Mistress won one challenge the same as her, and I think when you look at all 3 challenges the right 3 queens advanced. Lydia and Jorgeous did well at the challenge they each didn’t win and Mistress was in the mix to win all 3 times. How is Kerri getting good critiques ONCE, not even winning, more valid than Mistress’ win just because Mistress played the game the way the show wanted?

I know there’s also Lydia’s fans but they are utterly utterly tapped if I am being honest, just complete parasocial insanity on a level I don’t think I’ve ever seen on Drag Race, even Lydia is fed up of them lmfao

TL;DR it’s really not that serious, it’s great tv, and some of these fans need to go outside lol

It's not just over Kerri Colby. It's also to do with her blocking Lydia stans left and right because of one of them leaking the MIB Discord server.
