As the weekly hate chart stopped being a thing many years ago, the hate chart is now a yearly affair. Get your puke emoticons at the ready. :mellow:

 

Rules:

• You may nominate any song that was released and/or peaked (in the UK or US chart) within the past 12 months. If you're stuck for inspiration the UK Chart Archive is only a few clicks away.

• You may nominate as many songs as you dislike.

• You may not nominate a song that appeared in last year's hate chart - see below.

• You may only nominate 3 songs by a specific artist (excluding songs they have a feature or secondary credit on). I know there's quite a few controversial artists or artists whose output you don't like at all, but please don't just nominate "every song by x artist" because you don't like them. Keep in mind this is a hate chart for songs and not artists.

• If you want to add extra nominations after your initial post feel free to do so but please do it in a new post otherwise I may not notice it.

...and here it is x Only going for songs that debuted in the UK top 100 this year (and trying to stick to songs that I have some visceral dislike for rather than just anything that's subpar / extremely bland as the list would be way too long otherwise, there are some songs that I think I disliked but I don't really remember very well, but I'm taking that as they can't have been that awful if I've forgotten what they sounded like so those songs are spared, so there's a slight recency bias). I also did include a couple of songs that aren't really TERRIBLE but just the dangerous combination of disgustingly bland and disgustingly overexposed.

 

Basically this is a list of songs that make me think 'hey that Kygo version of Higher Love really wasn't that bad after all'. (lowkey that's slightly grown on me just because of there being so many worse songs that entered the chart since it so it hasn't made it onto here as much as I still really despise Kygo's existence and would take any other version of the song over his)

Quite honestly I've never heard any of the 6ix9ine / YNW Melly songs that have charted this year as they never played them on the chart lol :')

 

That list makes me look like quite the hip-hop hater, and while it absolutely is not my favourite genre, there's plenty I do enjoy too! It just has lower lows than the other genres :')
