November 30, 20195 yr I am calling for this entire edition of the contest to be cancelled due to the continued racism present throughout all levels of the competition! #BJSCSoWhite denied.
November 30, 20195 yr Frank, sorry you've had so many DNQ's but everyone needs to keep things in perspective - I had 13 in a row and I took it with good nature! It's not life or death, some people are just better at picking stuff that appeals across the board, most essentially Cody & Leww. Leww gave me a hand with choices when I did a thread on my failures and I got a Q, I'm sure he'd be there (or anyone else would) if anyone wants a bit of advice between potential entries if Qualifying is important to anyone. My tips, purely from observation of those that got through of late from me, is follow current music song construction trends: get the hook upfront and instant and BIG, a great video doesn't hurt, or standing out from the crowd in an unusual but appealing way is always good for indie crowd support. Or a dance banger! Combine all those and you've got a winner
November 30, 20195 yr Is it really about doing well though? It's an internet forum game for no prize whatsoever except a bit of pride? I just like introducing songs I love to others really!
November 30, 20195 yr Author Exactly! For me it's just about sharing music and getting discoveries back, I'd rather send something I loved and wanted to share but DNQd than sent something I wasn't as keen on but knew would do well, just to get a qualifier or a hit. It's a bonus if you do well and I appreciate it can be frustrating when you love a song and it flops when you believed in it, but if you're not in it for the music, which is the thing we all have in common on this forum, then you're in the wrong place. I enjy the contest so much more when I just send what I love, I had periods of sending stuff just to do well and it didn't always work plus it's so much harder to get into the contest when you send something you don't really believe in or love.
November 30, 20195 yr Yeah I am glad someone gave my song a 12 even though it dnq'd that is the main purpose of this contest.
December 1, 20195 yr Just having a Q streak of 5 or so is enough to drive me crazy with the pressure to keep it going, I'd just as soon hope to never have as many as 30 in a row. And yeah one DNQ is nothing, try having 4 or 5 in a row and see how that feels, BUT I will grant that missing the final on a tiebreaker is painful no matter what the circumstances. (Dare I ask for a qualification streak update Bray?) So happy to finally be back in the final! I've known my entry for as long as I've been in BJSC, can't imagine why I never thought to send it here until now! Huge majority of my faves made it through but Flynnonda sticks out as a loss for me </3 Also I'm quite glad that the nil-pointer continues to be avoided. It's amazing that it's been so evasive for so many years, I find that far more amusing and will be a bit disappointed if it ever does finally happen!

Combine all those and you've got a winner  Oh no, thanks, I'm definitely not after a Q recipe, I know that my stats could be a lot better if I sent safe® stuff - but I prefer sending me-stuff (sorry everyone  ) and although DNQing with something I love feels shite, the next day I'm ready for the next contest. On the whole drama: I usually find it hard to hold myself back and sugarcoat my opinion - so some of the 'light and fluffy' comments pissed me off - let this be my problem, we're different. In the past 5-ish years, everyone had at least one entry that I loved. Music is one of the not too many things that makes me happy, so everyone here contributed to my happiness at some point. Although I don't comment much, I really cherish BJSC and everyone behind it, it's not something I'd give up on because of 6/10/countless DNQs (and I don't understand why anyone would consider quitting because of this - again, my problem). And now it's time to listen to Semi 2 :w00t:

And now it's time to listen to Semi 2 :w00t: goodo! I can say I've hardly ever sent a track in that I didn't rate, and usually rate highly. The only exception I can think of was I'd got back from holiday in the canaries and forgotten to enter, or even consider what to enter, so with no time to find something I entered a Spanish pop thing I'd heard in a club/bar videoscreen that week - and it def sounded better on a bacardi & coke and a few lagers than it did 2 or 3 weeks later.
December 3, 20195 yr there will be no Q streak posting until I’ve found an entry that screams “Cor lupus is BACK”
December 4, 20195 yr :hi:  blame the website deciding to not work for most of the rest of that day xx [/late] Qualification streak update (underlined countries have matched or extended their longest ever Q streak): 34 Aeroche ~ 19 FARC ~ 10 Espen 10 Fljótavík ~ 7 Altyr Muunilinst 7 Hushkanukia 7 Jadakissnia ~ 5 New Lexico 5 Persephonia ~ 4 Holland-Oats 4 Singerpurear 4 Summericia ~ 3 Danæviia 3 Ojnoj * 3 République d'Áskorza 3 Scherzland 3 Terra Avium * 3 Trifoski 3 Ultraviolenceland 3 Wholune ~ 2 Deandria 2 Dobago 2 Jupiterdonia 2 Land of DW 2 Taahino 2 Unovia ~ 1 Arcodesia 1 (The Actual Republic of) Bellamia 1 Budtar 1 FSR Rontvia 1 Greenfroze 1 Harmonica 1 Oslol 1 Rolloland 1 Sandénia 1 Tartford 1 Thelonia 1 United States of Jack DEAD 33 Cor Lupus http://media2.giphy.com/media/10hfegXGKVRVNm/giphy.gif 9 Lotunia 5 Hendinia 5 Vülkyria 3 Kluminican Republic 3 Séyetana 2 Cowtermont 1 Bhangra 1 Cadelicia 1 East Rukahavian 1 Flynnonda 1 Tinnmark * more consecutive entries (8 for Terra Avium, 5 for Ojnoj) have qualified but these streaks were broken by breaks from the contest As we're all obviously aware of by now Cor Lupus' run comes to an end after 33 qualifiers in a row, leaving Aeroche continuing to expand their national record and now solely in the lead with 34 in a row which matches Hendinia for the second longest run of all time (Hendinia did it in BJSCs 19-52, and these runs are overshadowed only by FSR Rontvia's run of 42 consecutive finals in BJSCs 13-54). FARC move up to runner up expanding their own record to 19 finals in a row while Espen and Fljótavík are now joint third as the only two other nations to finish 2019 with a 100% record of final appearances (both on 10 in a row having last DNQed in BJSC 110), Lotunia's streak also ending just short of achieving that. Wholune expand their first proper qualification streak to 3 in a row despite having a 33% deduction, while three other countries match their previous longest streaks: Summericia make it 4 finals in a row after previously doing so in BJSCs 88-91 (although they had a run of 5 entries in a row qualifying in non-consecutive contests for BJSCs 102 & 103 and 106-108), Scherzland get to 3 in a row for only the second time after previously achieving that way back in BJSCs 41-43 and Deandria get to 2 finals in a row for the fourth time after previously doing it in BJSCs 17 & 18, 81 & 82 and 98 & 99 (they also had 2 consecutive entries qualifying in non-consecutive contests twice, in BJSCs 93 & 96 and 105 & 107, but have still never had three consecutive entries make the final whether in consecutive contests or not). Terra Avium also continue to expand their record in non-consecutive contests to 8. ~~~ Also belated as I didn't post this before, from my votes / rankings of the other semi: 12 SKALL 10 QUALIFIED 8 QUALIFIED 7 QUALIFIED 6 QUALIFIED 5 BØTANIKKÄ 4 QUALIFIED 3 QUALIFIED 2 QUALIFIED 1 QUALIFIED 15th Aesthetica 17th Aelandor 20th Tinnmark 21st Daehun 22nd Suedeonia 24th Cadelicia 1st Beaverdonia #beaverdoniaism 4th Vülkyria 10th Séyetana 12th Lotunia 16th East Rukahavian 17th Cor Lupus 21st Flynnonda 25th Niceland
December 4, 20195 yr Very happy to have managed to reach the final in every contest this year, not sure that's ever happened before for me so I'm counting that as a little mini achievement ^_^
December 4, 20195 yr Singerpurear have had more than 4 in a row before?! Must have been 5 then and we must have been on fire for a short period  Oh the pressure to go for something safe now..... it's bound to backfire :P
December 4, 20195 yr Daaaamn had I not been vetoed DNQ'd in 118 I coulda been behind only the 2 BJSC heavyweights!

December 4, 20195 yr My longest streak ever is still 10, if I could get to 11 then that would fall nicely on my 50th anniversary month *.*
