The group achieved 18 top-20 singles and four top-10 albums, and were one of the UK's most popular boy bands during the early to mid-1990s, aided by strong tabloid interest in their 'bad boy' image compared to the 'clean cut' image of rivals Take That. December 27, 20196 yr 'Stay Another Day' is stunning  1994 producing longstanding Christmas classics for sure!
December 27, 20196 yr This is a Xmas song which I’d welcome back into the charts. I was about to say that it’s last appearance in the top 40 was in 1995 but I didn’t realise it was actually there last year
December 27, 20196 yr :( I also read the other day that Eartha Kitt of 'Santa Baby' fame died on Christmas Day, spooky. ~~~ 'Pump It Up' is a pretty pointless remake (I hope this trend gets left behind in 2019) but the song is a bit of a bop.I never knew that about Eartha Kitt. In news just breaking this afternoon one of George Michael's two sisters died suddenly on Christmas Day this year. No other news about the circumstances so far but it's very sad news. One of the most popular groups of the 1960s, they placed nine songs on the Billboard Hot 100, five of which became Top 40 hits. The trio from Spanish Harlem, New York, consisted of lead singer Veronica Bennett (later known as Ronnie Spector), her older sister Estelle Bennett, and their cousin Nedra Talley. Among the Ronettes' most famous songs are "Be My Baby", "Baby, I Love You", "(The Best Part of) Breakin' Up", and "Walking in the Rain", all of which charted on the Billboard Hot 100. "Walking in the Rain" won a Grammy Award in 1965, and "Be My Baby" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. The Ronettes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. The girls had sung together since they were teenagers, then known as "The Darling Sisters". Signed first by Colpix Records in 1961, they moved to Phil Spector's Philles Records in March 1963 and changed their name to "The Ronettes". In late 1964, the group released their only studio album, Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica, which entered the Billboard charts at number 96. Rolling Stone ranked it number 422 on its list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004. The Ronettes were the only girl group to tour with the Beatles. - Wikipedia Top 100 Chart History 1963 04 Be My Baby -1- 1964 11 Baby, I Love You -2- 1964 43 (The Best Part Of) Breakin' Up -3- 1964 35 Do I Love You? -4- 2013 34 Sleigh Ride -AT- 0 x #1 | 1 x Top 5 | 1 x Top 10 | 2 x Top 20 | 4 x Top 40 | 5 x Top 100 Social Media The Ronettes http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 33 | 70 | 8th week Darlene Love Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) Album track from A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector Released: 22nd November 1963 Label: Sony Legacy / Philles Chart Statistics NE (05/01/2017) | 74-x RE (04/01/2018) | 77-x RE (20/12/2018) | 80-63-22-x RE (19/12/2019) | 73-70-33 Sales: 300k+ Certification: Silver Status: Accelerated Chart Ratio __ Sales 16 Audio Streaming __ Video Streaming Video 4EvZOXEoJ84 Biography Darlene Wright (born July 26, 1941), known by her stage name, Darlene Love, is an American popular music singer and actress. She gained prominence in the 1960s for the song "He's a Rebel," a No. 1 American single in 1962, and was one of the artists who performed on the celebrated Christmas album A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector, produced by Phil Spector in 1963. She is ranked number 84 among Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers. As a minister's daughter, she grew up listening to gospel music and was a dedicated member of her church. She began singing in her church choir at age ten. During choir practice she caught the attention of choir director Cora Martin. After singing for Martin she was asked to go to the Music Mart where she sang and did some broadcasts; Love's career began there. As it was her first musical experience, it was also the main influence for her to pursue a music career. Those who knew her described her vocals as "a voice of a nightingale." She claimed, "(singing in) the choir was a big influence on my life. I call it my learning ground. Singing in the choir, I learned harmony." As an actress, she is perhaps best remembered for playing Danny Glover's wife in the Lethal Weapon film series. - Wikipedia Top 100 Chart History 1992 31 All Alone On Christmas -OST- 2017 22 Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) -AT- 0 x #1 | 0 x Top 5 | 0 x Top 10 | 0 x Top 20 | 2 x Top 40 | 2 x Top 100 Social Media Darlene Love http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 32 | 64 | 14th week Michael Bublé Holly Jolly Christmas http://is2.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/Music6/v4/3f/c7/50/3fc750d3-a5ac-a84a-149f-c0a8af18a337/source/170x170bb.jpg Album track from Christmas Released: 14th October 2011 Label: Reprise Records Chart Statistics NE (03/01/2015) | 96-x RE (05/01/2017) | 100-x RE (14/12/2017) | 96-55-48-34-x RE (13/12/2018) | 82-70-62-44-x RE (12/12/2019) | 79-64-64-32 Sales: 300k+ Certification: Silver Status: Accelerated Chart Ratio __ Sales 32 Audio Streaming __ Video Streaming Video Dkq3LD-4pmM Biography Michael Steven Bublé (/ˈbuːbleɪ/; boo-BLAY; born 9 September 1975) is a Canadian singer, songwriter and actor. Crosby's trademark warm bass-baritone voice made him the best-selling recording artist of the 20th century, having sold over one billion records, tapes, compact discs and digital downloads around the world. The first multimedia star, from 1931 to 1954 Crosby was a leader in record sales, radio ratings, and motion picture grosses. His early career coincided with technical recording innovations such as the microphone. This allowed him to develop a laid-back, intimate singing style that influenced many of the popular male singers who followed him, including Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Dick Haymes, and Dean Martin. Yank magazine said that he was the person who had done the most for American soldiers' morale during World War II. In 1948, American polls declared him the "most admired man alive", ahead of Jackie Robinson and Pope Pius XII. Also in 1948, Music Digest estimated that his recordings filled more than half of the 80,000 weekly hours allocated to recorded radio music. Crosby won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as Father Chuck O'Malley in the 1944 motion picture Going My Way and was nominated for his reprise of the role in The Bells of St. Mary's opposite Ingrid Bergman the next year, becoming the first of six actors to be nominated twice for playing the same character. In 1963, Crosby received the first Grammy Global Achievement Award. He is one of 33 people to have three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in the categories of motion pictures, radio, and audio recording. Crosby influenced the development of the postwar recording industry. After seeing a demonstration of an early Ampex reel-to-reel tape recorder he placed a large order for their equipment and convinced ABC to allow him to tape his shows. He became the first performer to pre-record his radio shows and master his commercial recordings onto magnetic tape. Through the medium of recording, he constructed his radio programs with the same directorial tools and craftsmanship (editing, retaking, rehearsal, time shifting) used in motion picture production, a practice that became an industry standard. In addition to his work with early audio tape recording, he helped to finance the development of videotape, bought television stations, bred racehorses, and co-owned the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team. - Wikipedia Top 100 Chart History 1952 03 The Isle Of Innisfree -1- 1952 10 Zing A Little Zong (Bing Crosby & Jane Wyman) -1- 1952 08 Silent Night, Holy Night 1954 09 Changing Partners -1- 1955 11 Count Your Blessings Instead Of Sheep -1*- 1955 17 Stranger In Paradise -2- 1956 22 In A Little Spanish Town -NAS- 1956 04 True Love (Bing Crosby & Grace Kelly) -1- 1957 05 Around The World -NAS- 1975 41 That's What Life Is All About -1- 1977 05 White Christmas -1- MILLION SELLER 1982 03 Peace On Earth / Little Drummer Boy (David Bowie & Bing Crosby) 0 x #1 | 5 x Top 5 | 8 x Top 10 | 10 x Top 20 | 11 x Top 40 | 12 x Top 100 Social Media Bing Crosby http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png
