80 = Dua Lipa // Swan Song = 224pts

Chart Run (08-08-13-11-10-16-19-30-34-37)

Peak = 8

Weeks on Chart = 10 Weeks

Breaking into the top 80 is the first of 2 Dua Lipa songs on the EOY, this one though isn’t as successful as Don’t Start Now. Swan Song was released early into 2018 and peaked at 8 on the Electro Chart and managed 3 weeks in total in the top 10 with 10 weeks overall on the chart. I wouldn’t say its Dua’s best song, however I don’t think its as bad as her official peak finally was. Its probably not the first Dua track I would go back to, however not a bad song.

79 = Ed Sheeran x Justin Bieber // I Don’t Care = 225pts

Chart Run (28-05-04-05-09-16-19-24-34)

Peak = 4

Weeks on Chart = 9 Weeks

Ed and Justin next and a song which I didn’t really get into at first at all… however a holiday in Greece and the song playing in every bar corrupting me and I ended up quite liking it. The song peaked at number 4 and spent 4 weeks in the top 10 before sharply dropping down the chart. I know Ed gets a lot of stick on DS, however I quite enjoyed some of his singles from his last album; Cross Me in particular was a bop and still to chart.

78 = Riton & Oliver Heldens ft Vula // Turn Me On = 226pts

Chart Run (05-06-09-12-14-17-24-27-31-39)

Peak = 5

Weeks on Chart = 10 Weeks

Oliver Heldens makes his final appearance now with Turn Me On charting at 78. The song samples Yazoo’s Don’t Go and debuted in my top 5, it went to have 10 weeks in total on the chart. I liked the song, however it did get a bit old to start fairly quicky and I was initially reluctant to really like the song as the original is engrained on my so much.

77 = Billie Eilish // everything i wanted = 227pts

Chart Run (01-01-06-12-14-13-13-X)

Peak = 1 (2 Weeks @ Number 1)

Weeks on Chart = 7 Weeks (Still Charting)

Up next the final appearance by Billie Eilish as her last single manages to sneak into the top 80 after 7 weeks charting prior to the new year. As I’ve said usually Billie tracks have a short lifespan on my chart, however this song managed 2 weeks at the top before 2 sharp falls out of the top 10. The song however did stabilise around 12-14 for 4 weeks, however despite the drops does enough to chart here. I really like this song and thing its one of Billie’s best, arguably Bad Guy should be in my EOY chart, however the song only peaked at 22 on my chart. However Bad Guy is probably the song I’ll return to most from Billie (everything i wanted aside).

76 = Lauv // Feelings = 228pts

Chart Run (04-04-05-08-09-14-15-X)

Peak = 4

Weeks on Chart = 7 Weeks (Still Charting)

Lauv makes his first appearance next and is the first of 2 songs that made it to my top 125. Feelings impacted on me very late on, however in the run up to the new year managed 7 weeks on my chart and in total 5 weeks in the top 10. Lauv I find a bit hit and miss, however I really like Feelings and I’m so Tired… had quite a monster chart run for me and is the Lauv song still to come. Mean It has had a resurgence on my chart this week, so more Lauv in my 2020 EOY chart is very probable

Chart Run (09-08-09-10-13-16-20-28-33-36)

Peak = 8

Weeks on Chart = 10 Weeks

Foals make another appearance next as On the Lunar manages to crack the top 75 after 4 weeks in the top 10 and a peak of 8. The only Foals track left now is In Degrees; both that and On the Luna featured as part of their first album for 2019. I like On the Luna a lot and whilst I probably return to The Runner and In Degrees more, it’s a great song from them and deserving of its top 75 position.

Chart Run (11-10-09-08-11-13-15-19-X)

Peak = 8

Weeks on Chart = 8 Weeks (Still Charting)

At 74 is the popstar that no-one seems to like; HRVY. Whilst I know the majority of his earlier output wasn’t the best, there have been a few of his recent songs that I’ve really like and in fact some had hefty chart runs in 2019. Million Ways charted towards the end of the year and peaked at 8 managing 8 weeks currently on the chart and all weeks within the top 20. His feature with Jonas Blue, NOTD and also Told You So are still to chart.

Chart Run (21-09-14-19-17-25-28-21-21-22-28-33-40)

Peak = 9

Weeks on Chart = 13 Weeks

Lewis Capaldi makes another appearance next with Grace and is a song that I don’t remember actually liking as much as the chart run and EOY position suggests. Grace managed a massive 13 weeks on the chart and peaked at 9; it yo-yo’d up and down the chart for a considerable number of weeks and whilst I do find it a good song, at the moment I find it a little bit meh. But I must’ve liked it a fair bit at the time :D

72 = George Ezra // Pretty Shining People = 237pts

Chart Run (X-05-06-07-11-16-18-21-27-31-35-37)

Peak = 5

Weeks on Chart = 11 Weeks (Weeks in 2019)

George Ezra makes his soul appearance in my 2019 EOY chart after taking 4th and 5th place last year. Pretty Shining People had quite a lengthy chart run as it charted when the album was released and again when it was pushed as a single. It make 89th in my 2018 EOY chart with 196pts and in 2019 it charted for another 11 weeks with 3 weeks in the top 10. George has been pretty much quiet for the last year or so, however Its good that he had a massive second album after Don’t Matter Now bombed.

I enjoy Turn Me On and Everything I Wanted from your most recent section (EIW is probably my 2nd fave song of hers following WTPO)

71 = MJ Cole & Freya Ridings // Waking Up = 242pts

Chart Run (X-11-10-15-17-20-11-14-18-24-32-37)

Peak = 10

Weeks on Chart = 11 Weeks (Weeks in 2019)

Freya Ridings makes her 2nd and final appearance on my EOY chart as her feature with MJ Cole sits just outside the top 70. The song first charted in 2018, however managed to stay on the chart for a further 11 weeks in 2019. Feeling old, I remember loving Crazy Love and Sincere back in the day from MJ Cole and even remember seeing him DJ-ing at V one year. This is a bit more downbeat/ slower paced but builds really well and works with Freya’s deep vocals.

Chart Run (28-26-21-18-12-13-16-13-17-21-28-34-40)

Peak = 12

Weeks on Chart = 13 Weeks

Mark Ronson and Cam Cab next with Find U Again; this Is the highest ranked Mark Ronson track and the first appearance of Camilla – Liar is still to chart. The song peaked at 12 and had 13 weeks in total on the chart with a hefty part of its run in the top 20. I wouldn’t say this was the most instant of songs for me and not a patch of Nothing Breaks Like a Heart, however its decent enough.

Chart Run (23-17-11-09-13-17-18-20-22-26-30-37)

Peak = 9

Weeks on Chart = 12 Weeks

Next up in the top 70 is Jax Jones and Jess Glynne’s song One Touch. I’ll be honest I seriously went off Jess Glynne when she released ‘Hold My Hand’ for the 20th time and wasn’t instantly In love with this song initially. However It grew on my a lot and whilst far from both artists best, it has a catchy chorus. The song peaked at 9 and went on to spend 12 weeks on the chart with 7 weeks in the top 20.

Chart Run (04-02-08-10-12-15-19-24-30-36-40)

Peak = 2

Weeks on Chart = 11 Weeks

Surprise entrant by a Spice Girl anyone? Emma Bunton returned in 2019 and released her first album for over a decade alongside her first new single; Baby Please Don’t Stop. The song spent 11 weeks on my chart with a peak of 2 before descending. I remember really liking the song at the time… however haven’t really returned to it in any big way since. However a good pop song nonetheless and good to see her still releasing great pop after all these years.

67 = The Vamps // Missing You = 255pts

Chart Run (10-12-18-13-09-12-15-21-27-29-32-39)

Peak = 9

Weeks on Chart = 12 Weeks

At 67 is the first of two songs by the Vamps to make my EOY chart. Missing You was part of their EP (also titled Missing You) which was released in 2018. The EP featured just 4 songs and Missing You was the song that was most instant for me (aside from All the Lies which is still to come). Missing You spent 12 weeks on the chart including 7 weeks in the top 20 with a peak of 9. I think the Vamps have grown over the years and it’s a shame that since All Night they can’t seem to land a hit.

66 = Jonas Blue x HRVY = 263pts

Chart Run (02-05-05-09-15-17-21-25-28-29-35-38)

Peak = 2

Weeks on Chart = 12 Weeks

Up next is Jonas Blue and HRVY’s collaboration Younger which managed 12 weeks on the chart and 4 weeks in the top 10 with a peak of 2. Despite Jonas landing some fairly big hits over the years, it seems whenever HRVY is involved that things tend to flop and this did nothing officially and was never really picked up on streaming. It’s a fair enough song, possibly a bit on the bland side however has a decent hook.

Peak = 8

Weeks on Chart = 15 Weeks (Still Charting)

A massive long chart run next and making 15 weeks on the chart (and still charting), however only a peak of 8 for Tones and I sees it just make top 65. Dance Monkey has been massive and spent 11 weeks at number officially and still top of the Spotify/ i-tunes chart. The song has had a lengthy stay on my chart, however it hasn’t as big as big for me as it seems to for the country. Its got a decent hook, but there are far better songs out there.

Chart Run (20-12-06-06-07-09-13-19-24-29-38-40)

Peak = 6

Weeks on Chart = 12 Weeks

Up next is the one and only song by Not3s on my EOY chart; he featured on Fine Lines with Mabel last year and had a couple of other hits. Wanting was released last year and didn’t really do much, however it got stuck in my head for a fair while managing to peak at 6 on my chart and spend in total 12 weeks yo-yoing up and down the chart. Not a bad song, however 64th of the year is probably a little high for this.

Chart Run (31-16-07-14-11-11-11-14-19-23-28-35)

Peak = 7

Weeks on Chart = 12 Weeks

From one urban song to another as Aitch makes his second appearance of 4 on my EOY chart with his song Taste (Make it Shake). I know its awful and I’m not exactly a massive fan of rap/ urban music, however this song just got into my head and in total managed to spend 12 weeks on my chart including a week in the top 10 where it peaked at 7. Again maybe a little high for this, however I do sometimes return to this, so possibly about right.
