So the jist is: Biden debated, Trump berated. About what we expected then. I’ll be watching the full thing later, but the general consensus I’ve read seems to suggest Biden did what he needed to do: not make any massive gaffes. Trump only has 34 days now to turn this ship around, so he badly needed a win.

Yay tax returns will be released SOON (read: as SOON as they are properly doctored and/or redacted) :cheer:

Are we at all surprised at the fact he wouldn’t condemn white supremacy? His entire term and first election campaign was based on hating everyone but the whites. He IS the ultimate racist and fascist of the USA, there’s no point in rebranding all of a sudden.

Everything I read about this debate (I won’t be wasting my time watching Trump for two hours, eww) seems to be suggesting that Biden did much better because he stayed calm and talked about the actual issues. All Trump seemed to have done was use his usual fear campaign and completely derail conversations by bringing up irrelevant things and personal attacks onto the stage. This is Trump by numbers, he ain’t winning any new voters by being a loud obnoxious w*n**r - he’s been like that for YEARS. :’)
lmao @ telling pr**d b*ys to "stand by" — great that I have to worry about the threat of white supremacist violence incited by the president on national television between now and Election Day and possibly after but I guess I've barely been leaving the house anyway

For much of it, Trump was hardly letting Biden speak. When Biden was allowed to go uninterrupted it was normally some good points (though I think he flubbed the Supreme Court question a little by going too deep into the specifics), but the problem was that most of the time Biden would get half a sentence in and Trump would pipe up with some variation of 'no that's not how it is, that's fake'. ://// and then you'd hear nothing but Trump talking over Biden for the next however many minutes.

That's where 'will you shut up, man' comes from.

Yeah, it shouldn't affect anyone who was undecided about Trump (as if anyone is), but it's good for Trump's voters because they're the sort who just want someone who'll "look strong".

Halfway and so far the only bits of this that lend themselves to attack ads have all been from Biden, which works well. Trump just will not shut up.

Yeah this is totally f***ing disturbing. How can any normal human being still believe Trump has non-white interests at heart after seeing this?! He’s vile to the core and just fueling legal terrorist groups to spread their hatred further. This is disgusting. This is America.

Is soon the new “it’ll be ready in 2 weeks”

Must not be oven-ready.

What could have been.

This would have been such a satisfying debate with Warren at the helm

Just got the part where Trump refused point blank to condemn white supremacy, called the Proud Boys to stand back and stand by and I think I'm done. That's a fascist there.

I didn't watch in the end (couldn't bring myself to do it) as I knew how predictably it would play out.

This perhaps the second most shocking moment of the night..

Edit: Stop trolling please Chris - take this as a warning.

A country where a leader can request something from the Court and they will action it because of their alignment is not democratic.
Something else that no-one else has picked up on. The moderator said "could take days or weeks for us to know the final result" and Trump said "could take months even" so sounds like he's digging in for a fight if he loses.

The Electoral College meets in December. with an official declaration of the result in January. The dates are fixed. Whether Trump tries to manipulate the Electoral College vote remains to be seen, but the very fact that there are ways he can do this doesn't say much for the American constitution.

He said a load of ballot papers were found in a street waste bin, from the military bases and all had voted Trump. :o Biden or the moderator, can't remember which now, said there's no evidence of fraud and Trump said "oh there definitely is"

I heard that eleventy trillion dead Democrats had voted for Hillary yesterday too. All by mail in ballots they hadn’t even requested.

Also: a neat little reminder that the only recent condition for election fraud was an isolated incident in North Carolina perpetrated by a Republican.
