Oh FFS

So why did they vote in their millions for him again? Surely a guy who's been such a bad leader should have been trounced in a landslide.

Maybe if you write this on a post it note he’ll believe it

1) It IS a landslide. At least, it's not close. Most votes ever for a candidate, largest popular vote gap of any of the 21st century elections bar 2008, if the states go as expected, a hefty margin in the Electoral College.

2) There's always polarisation in a binary, not everyone who voted for Trump will have done it happy with what he's done. Millions of people voted for Herbert Hoover, millions voted for Jimmy Carter, many voted for Ronald Reagan. Were they bad presidents? Yes.

3) People geting inundated with rhetoric giving them a false reality will sink them so deep, I hope this loss snaps them out of it.

4) Red state people believe Democrats kill babies or some other such Qanon-esque nonsense, related to point 3.

5) After all that, some people, some people just want to hurt others. And they see Trump as the way to do that.

That question works in reverse too - why is Biden is beating Trump if he’s such a horrendous candidate out to destroy America?

The ability to contemplate things beyond your own world view is not complicated. You might not understand it, but I can easily see why Trumps rhetoric appeals to people, whilst also appreciating that it is largely completely untrue.

Meanwhile, in Alaska they have only counted around 160,000 votes so far. I can only assume that one person is doing the whole thing on their own and that each ballot paper has to be thawed out (individually because they can't thaw out more than one at a time) before it can be counted.
Alaska is an odd one - they counted all in person Election Day and early voting (from 29/10 to 1/11) and then won’t release anything more until 10/11 due to waiting for late arriving mail ballots. Hopefully Al Gross is right and he is well placed with mail ballots to win.
I'm still baffled that the worlds biggest western "democracy" can take THIS long to count votes, when for all of our systems faults the UK gets it done in ONE night. 😂

It's because of the large number of postal votes that took place during the COVID-19 era.

But surely there should have been dates for submission for the postal votes to be counted? It doesn't make sense to me it is taking this long either, it's utterly ridiculous!

it differs among states. some states were able to process postal votes early, others had to wait until the day of the election, like PA, hence the long wait. and some states also accept late-arriving votes as long as they are postmarked by election day.

This isn't making it sound any less ridiculous

My mate Mick along the street, black Cabbie, massive Trump fan, absolutely adores him, came in for an hour last night. His wife was fed up with him. He was almost crying "he's been robbed Chris, Biden's stolen it from him" He was genuinaly in a right state, said he'd been crying and also yelling at the TV all day.

It must be affecting some Americans badly too. Spare a thought for them. Trump's like a cult figure to some now. :D

You not meant to be in lockdown?

... And then he woke up!

You know what, he's convinced me. I'm convinced. McDonald Trump is obviously the wiener here, anyone who can't see that is obviously just looking at the factual evidence and not Trump's tweets.

There is a date - for most states it’s Election Day evening, for some it’s a little bit later like Pennsylvania which has a big population so it makes sense to allow more time. This is not a new thing. States don’t officially declare results for around 2 weeks after the election, it’s just there’s never been a spotlight in it before. Yes it’s painfully slow, but that speaks to the accuracy in counting and also that people don’t just vote for President - it’s a range of ballot measures, state offices and federal offices which all need to be counted individually.
