'Come Out Ye Black And Tans' by The Wolfe Tones popping up at #5. Something to do with Irish politics. Something something nationalism something something British imperialists. I don't entirely understand what's going on but here's an article.

Also 'Yummy' is resurging as Bieber is pushing the download link on his Twitter, he's releasing limited CDs and cassettes as well and even did a 'streaming party' for the song lol. Obviously aimed at trying to get a #1 debut in the US but having some knock-on effect here too (it's back up to #6).

Very easy to understand the tioaseach Leo Varadkar wanted to commemorate the people who lost their lives in the war of independence 1919-21 that came from the British paramilitary side of the conflict and many politicans said they would refuse to come to it due to the atrocities they caused. One of the most famous was on 'Bloody Subday' when the Black and Tans entered Croke Park in Dublin and killed a load of people with no evidence of who they were only they knew croke park being a gaa pitch would have a lot of nationalists there.

When the first word in your 'easy to understand' explanation is 'Taoiseach' this is where I start tuning out :kink:

So people are downloading this song to celebrate the Irish government deciding to cancel/delay honouring fallen British soldiers? It seems like slightly weird timing, I'd have thought if anything this would happen at the time they actually are doing it.

In any case... gwan Irish nationalists knocking the horror off #1 once again :cheer:

Celeste's 'Strange' is up to #21 and #56 following her Sound of 2020 win, could imagine this song being at least a moderate hit. It's a pleasant enough song ~

What the   Who....

Ahhh... that article -_-

not the first time Irish Nationalists impacted iTunes either – "The Irish Brigade" had a #33 official chart hit with 'Roll Of Honour' in Feb 2014, I recall it was skipped on the chart show too due to its political nature.

although I don't expect this one will even go top 100 officially particularly due to its timing.

Indeed I remember it, same week as Dapper Laughs made top 40 with 'Proper Moist' so there were two songs they couldn't play on the chart show....

Hahah and I thought you were smart!!!

It is a bit mental that it's went all the way to no1 on iTunes though due to this as it's only really been a story in the Irish media, think there may be a bit of a campaign to get it there. It's no1 and No2 in Ireland.

Fair enough, I find it very simple.

Someone treats the other like shit, the other reacts!

Was enjoying Come on ye Black and tans at a Wolfetones concert back in August, Happening in my Local Town of Newcastle West, Co Limerick.

I never here use "Irish PM" always Taoiseach

also, I never use Irish Police, always Gardai, or Garda or Guards.
