It's funny, because when I think of Little Mix it's all uptempo, yet girl groups often have these amazing soaring ballads... which let's face it, Little Mix doesn't have yet. Where's their 2 Become 1? Or Too Lost In You? Or even their - shudder - The Saturdays song. Yes, that one that no one remembers.

ETA about one minute later: Issues.

Told You So was right there begging for a winter release but no.

I've never listened to Little Mix: Deep Cuts

Secret Love Song fits the bill perfectly surely? I still get chills when I listen to it (part 2 tho). It's probably one of their most recognisable hits too (it's shifted > 1,000,000 units).

I sorta' see your point though. Although the vocals are amazing, I often find their ballads a little lacking in melody. Only SLS, 'Towers' and 'Monster In Me' (which would've made a brilliant Winter single) stand out among their discography for me.

That being said, coming back with a ballad would be career suicide at this point, especially after the floppage of 'One I've Been Missing'. They need an undeniable banger to remind the public why they were so huge during the GW/GD eras.

sure Secret Love Song, their best ballad

while Spice Girls and Sugababes had many classic ballads

other girl bands like Bananarama or Girls Aloud don't have any (not gonna count that awful cover of I'll Stand by You as classic)

I'm talking 'bout a whole lotta history.

Is that really a girl band "classic" ballad in the same vein as '2 Become 1'/'Too Lost In You'/'Issues' though? I love that song, it's one of my favourite Girls Aloud songs, but I imagine if people were asked to name a GA ballad, they'd struggle to name one (unlike the other songs that have been mentioned for the girl bands here).

I feel like SLS is a girl band classic ballad. Especially due to it's strong LGBTQ+ connection and how important it's been culturally. Had they given the video a proper LGBTQ+ represented video (like it was supposed to get, apparently) I imagine it would have had an even bigger impact. I'd also argue that SLS is their biggest hit. Not necessarily just in terms of chart performance, but the cultural impact all over.

But that's my take on it. In response to the topic they don't "need" one as I believe they already have one, but I'd welcome another one, but like Defaze said at least not for another 3 or 4 singles, as that would be career suicide at this point. Warm the public back up with a few pop & club bangers.

P.s. love this topic!

Why is no one talking about 'Love Me Or Leave Me', 'These Four Walls' or 'Good Enough'? Turn Your Face and Always Be Together also gorgeous.

It definitely should have been 'Monster In Me' released over 'Think About Us' and 'These Four Walls' over 'Little Me'... any second of the day.

I went on a single mentality  'These Four Walls', 'Love Me Or Leave Me', 'Monster In Me' are all stellar <3 But I'm a sucker for a ballad regardless.

'Change Your Life' was kind of a 'ballad' though, wasn't it (and their best single easily imo).

OMG THESe fIRST 3!!!Absolute beauties and the few Little Mix ballads I do use. Only SLS is up there with them, the rest of their ballads are lowkey shite

I guess it depends on your definition of a ballad but I'd say 'Call the Shots' was close to being a 'classic girl group ballad'.

Hmm.. If most people consider it to be a ballad then I'd completely agree. But that one's a tricky one. Personally, I'm not sure I consider it a ballad (it's why it never registered with me when thinking about one for them - I only thought of their covers and WLH )

Wow, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that before!

I actually think Issues MADE The Saturdays.

It was a big one for them but ego is the only song I love from them. For me little mix and girls aloud are all about uptempo as I prefer their uptempo songs but spice girls, atomic kitten for example managed a better mixture.

There ballads are actually quite strong imo. Monster In Me, Love Me Or Leave Me ,Good Enough, Towers , Nobody Like You, and These Four Walls are all stellar and then obviously Secret Love Song which I believe should be considered as a classic girl band ballad definitely !

I really do love Secret Love Song, but I think I’d like it even more if the original was just Little Mix, without Jason Derulo. I think Part II is more powerful for not being a duet. I also believe his participation in the song directly resulted in the video being meh.
