Posted January 26, 20205 yr These are probably the three most popular non Gaga singles by fans / stans. I also tried to make sure I chose three tracks off different albums (was torn on what to go for from Joanne hence why there’s none from that era) However out of these three tracks what’s your favourite and what would’ve made the best single. For me Scheibe is my favourite track but I feel in terms of adding more sales to the campaign Gypsy is probably what was most robbed as a single. Dance In The Dark is a bop and an important track but that era was so huge I don’t think it would’ve made it any bigger tbh and it would’ve been so annoying to see it get an annoying peak (I could’ve so seen it being a #11 smash if it was made single 4 from TFM). With Schiebe it’s an incredible track and the video could’ve been so iconic. But had it been made a single it likely wouldn’t have done much without promo (unless it was a single prior to album release). But Gypsy despite it being a bit meh by her standards for me. I really feel it actually could’ve gave ARTPOP some real album sales. Had it been a q4 single especially. It’s the one song on the album what’s an album seller and I think long term wise it could’ve been bigger than both Applause and Do What U Want.
January 26, 20205 yr Gypsy would have been a supreme lead single but after she was already floundering not sure if it would havepulled back if she hadn't managed to couple it with an image change. Scheibe would equally have been a divisive but good single #2 or #3 from BTW which would have niched her up but been a cult classic. However I voted for DITD as deserved because iirc that was the track fans voted to be the next single, unless I'm misremebering, and was the fan fave. My personal favourite? Gypsy. It's one of her alltime best for me despite some questionable lyrics.
January 26, 20205 yr DITD to both! I am not as big fan of Gypsy as some others here (even though it's a solid 8/10). Scheisse is already a cult classic even without the single treatment (she opened her Coachella show with it).
January 26, 20205 yr Definitely Gypsy as a lead single! I don't know what they were thinking chaning to Applause! Second place, SheiBe as the second BTW single instead of Judas. DITD eh. For the 2nd poll question, Gypsy is my fave. Gypsy for both.
January 26, 20205 yr DITD is my favourite song of all time, but i've voted Gypsy for the first poll just because in the album it's from, it is undeniably the missed single choice. DITD for the second poll though obviously ~
January 26, 20205 yr I voted for 'Dance In The Dark' for both polls! She was absolutely HUGE during that era, I think another single definitely would've worked.
January 30, 20205 yr Gypsy/DITD I know it's odd choosing differently for both but as Bal said, given it's from Artpop (not that I dislike the album, far from it, but in terms of potential singles) and wasn't even released then it's still just baffling. Should have been the lead let alone a single at all! DITD is of course beyond incred and also should have been a single but at least that had strong competition that got released instead, it wasn't passed up for Applause
January 30, 20205 yr Author Wow at DITD leading both polls by miles! For interest when would people have liked DITD to be released like as the lead or in place of Telephone or Alejandro? I don’t think it’d have done any better than what Alejandro did tbh if it had been pushed as a single. I get why it’s a fan favourite and I do love it but the most GP friendly tracks were the singles definitely. And TFM done so well anyways It wouldn’t have done any better where as I think ARTPOP would have had Gypsy been a single.
January 30, 20205 yr Dance In The Dark FOREVER AND FOR ALWAYS. Actually impossible to choose between Gypsy and Scheibe for me tho :o
