I notice from the iTunes there is a chart battle this week between Brexiteers and Remainers. Does anyone think that 17 million **** offs or ode to joy, or both, will trouble the chart on Brexit Friday?

At the moment, no. But if they get a big boost from somewhere, they might.

Sunday's biggest sellers

Singles

8.7k Lewis Capaldi

8.6k The Weeknd

7.6k Roddy Rich

7.5k Eminem

7.1k Stormzy

Interesting, is this using Saturday's Spotify/Apple/YT data and Sunday's for everything else?

Sort of think it'll be random if Lewis hits no1 as it seems like it's been around for ages whereas the Weeknd seems like it's rightfully reaching the peak of its popularity - so hope he can do it, wouldn't rule out Eminem or Roddy albeit the former doesn't like getting more than one week at the top if history is anything to go by.
these are the 1st week sales from the last 4 PSB albums, since the big drop experienced in the early 2010s coinciding with the lack of hit singles,

they've mantained or even increased 1st week sales, and the last 2 albums seem quite stable over 15k, which looks like what the new album will do too

Yes debuted at number four with first-week sales of 27,639 copies (2009)

Elysium debuted at number nine selling 10,418 copies (2012)

Electric did 15,715 copies (2013)

Super debuted at number three selling 16,953 copies (2016)

Well they sure as hell won't stay at No. 1 but if they can beat the 16,953 opening sales of their previous album then that would still be a great result. Seems perfectly doable.

Lewis is so determined to be number 1 this week that he could promise to send nudes to his fans if he is number 1 this Friday. -_-

Jeez. Nobody wants that, surely?!

That hasn't actually happened, I think Jason's just saying that it ~could~ happen.

8 Dave Clark Five - All the Hits

Surprised to see this so high (although it is TV advertised).

DC5 had 3 previous Greatest Hits albums to chart.

1978 - 25 THUMPING GREAT HITS - no. 7

1993 - GLAD ALL OVER AGAIN - no. 28

2008 - THE HITS - no. 15

Apparently released to coincide with the 60th Anniversary of their formation in 1960.

The front sleeve says "The DC5 sold over 100 million records". How true is that statement?

One track missing from the 28 tracks is The Red Balloon.

I prefer the 1993 collection with both Rock 'n' roll melodies and The Red Balloon.

About as true as Engelbert Humperdinck's claim that he's sold 100 million records

OCC have announced that Andre Rieu's 'Ode To Joy' is #58 in today's mids, 1200 units away from the top 40 (and #3 in the download chart mids). Nothing on whether the pro-Brexit song is charting yet.

Interesting, that's much higher than I was expecting! I don't think the pro-Brexit one will be in today's mids because it only started making significant progress yesterday (and even then it's still behind both Ode To Joy and Blinding Lights) whilst Ode To Joy was hovering in the iTunes chart over the weekend.

Was about to say I was impressed with Halsey remaining as high as #18 but then I looked at our detailed list and noticed it's basically because sales are just so low - she decreased 75% week on week. Bombay Bicycle Club at #23 have decreased 90% and Courteeners at #34 have decreased 96%!

Dare I ask how much Louise has declined?

The gap between Lewis and The Weeknd has increased from 883 to 895.

I really can't believe this old song is gonna be number 1 this week and The Weeknd is gonna lose his first ever number 1. Next week I'm rooting for Dua anyway.

Like last week, its another heavily contested battle for Number 1 single.

Pet Shops Boys up 1k on yesterday but J Hus is up 2,600.

Would hugely welcome a Pet Shops boys Number 1 album even if it sells less than 20k to do it.

Supergrass are low, i thought that release would challenge for a Top 10 position.

I think there's a really strong chance Lewis won't even get it in the end.

I hope PSB's can at least hold a top 2 position.
