No. Again, that is due to the UK's DUBIOUS definition of democracy. In both elections, remain parties got more votes :')

And as the unionists and Tories always say r.e the SNP, voting for a party in an election is NOT tantamount to voting for their position in a referendum :')

So you think the last election wasn’t about Brexit? Pity liberals don’t know where their hearts lie and couldn’t unite with socialists hence we get the mismatch British democratic way!

You've got that the wrong way round. The Lib Dems, Greens and Plaid Cymru tried to come to some sort of arrangement with Labour but Labour refused even to discuss the possibility.

Meanwhile, the SNP and Lib Dems have said they will be voting against the Trade Reduction Treaty.

Not surprised. I would want the SNP to vote against as it disrespects the wishes of their constituents to remain as close as possible to the EU.

Still think labour are committing a massive own goal by not abstaining. We need to let the Tories own the mess they have created

It's going to be much harder and more expensive to take pets abroad on holiday. You've to start months before with vets certificates and jabs. Glad I never go out of the country.

The last election was ALL about Brexit and virtually nothing else. Boris won it by promising to get Brexit done with his oven-ready deal.

Ugh, the selfishness.

Actually I may be going to the US when Covid's over and the country re-opens. Have been invited by three different families on Facebook bereavement groups to go for a holiday and stay with them. May go when she goes to Philippines.

Labour are going to find it a lot harder to criticise the government over the consequences of the deal if they vote for it. They should certainly not be voting for such a large document without any time for proper scrutiny.

I would have been perfectly happy for the Lib Dems to abstain. Voting against is taking advantage of their ability to demonstrate their disdain for the deal without any danger of saddling us with no deal.

Then if it was ALL about brexshit, and that it supercedes the wafer-thin opinion poll result in 2016, then you must accept that remain parties got more votes and thus cancel Brexshit immediately :)

Let Labour vote for it. We need it to go through without any delay. We've had enough delays. I'll watch Thursdays debate though.

My comment was more about the ‘look at the shit everyone has to do after I voted the way I did, at least I’m ok’ vibe of your post.

*SIGHS* We're out already Michael. This was just getting a trade deal and other things acceptable to both sides.

Do you think you could call it Brexit instead of the childish name that you use for it. Actually didn't Boris say not to call it that either. It's Leaving The EU.

"It's what de Pfeffel wants" is just about the worst possible reason for doing anything.

So you're perfectly happy for it to get no proper scrutiny and for MPs to vote for it even though most of them won't have read it? What could possibly go wrong?

People who have read the summary say it seems okay.

Oh landed genteyscumbag Bojo the Clown doesn't want us to call it that? Mkay. That changes EVERYTHING. Brexshit Brexshit Brexshit!!!!!!!!

Then if the election was JUST about a deal, and you accept that Bojo the Clown and his fascist puppet-master lied, then the election result should be cancelled and we should have another :) Democracy does not work when one side just lies and the media support them and attack the opposition. Our democracy now is little better than Putin's Russia.

The problem for Labour is that they have to win a coalition to win the next election and voting against or abstaining would surely jeopardise that. So it’s easy for the smaller parties with a smaller coalition to say they should abstain.

Same point applies for the last election coalition against the tories - the smaller parties were just pro Eu whereas Labour couldn’t stand for that. At the end of the day Labour are the largest anti Tory party so the liberals should have understood that but their views came first.

They should want to win an outright majority.

They should want to win an outright majority.

Not possible in a country with as weak a democracy as the UK with its brainwashing right wing government supporting media.
