With any luck, magic should obtain a new peak in the T75 this week but sadly can’t see it staying T40 though.

Moved up to 5, 6 and 9 on the Amazon overall charts following on from tonight’s promo
I've just caught up and she actually did! Kylie's sat there like "wtf are you on about?"

But as ever Kylie very polite.

She should have stood up and whacked her with the LP and shouted she has been doing disco for 33 years haha

Could be worse, I watched her interview with Wendy Williams on YouTube last night randomly and Wendy asked if she'd ever acted before, with Kylie having to explain Neighbours to her :') Her obsession with Loco-Motion as well I can't

Edited by Andrew.

Mine for delivered on day of release! Maybe they were waiting for extra from Kylie’s team?

Mine too

That was a lovely & positive read  She’s had a truly remarkable career.

I came on board as a fan with Spinning Around, when I was 12. Before then I’d never heard of her (even though I was into music in 97/98, Impossible Princess completely passed me by). I remember being quite shocked when my mum informed me that she wasn’t a brand new artist. It was quite brilliant how she managed to capture a brand new generation of pop fans with that comeback.

Since then I’ve remained as a loyal fan for the past 20 years. This week I have felt a little twinge of annoyance to see her fanbase being dismissed as being “old grown men” and Kylie herself be dismissed as an old woman, by some Little Mix fans... I’ll give them a pass for being young and immature, but it is pretty disrespectful! Kylie’s been such a joyful presence for me for 2 decades. I think it’s a bit of a shame that today’s youngsters aren’t particularly receptive to her (not that they’re really given a chance to be), like kids clearly were in 2000. I’m so glad that the media wasn’t as restrictive about artists of a certain age then.

(Sorry, this feels a bit off topic in Disco). To bring it back to Disco... I think it’s fantastic that 33 years into her career she’s delivered an album that the fan base and Radio 2 orientated listeners have really connected with. Even if she doesn’t make it to #1, I think this era has been really special and has further solidified her status as a pop legend.

Love hearing your thoughts there, Jay! 'Spinning Around' was possibly my introduction to Kylie too - I'm 23 so I don't know how far specifically my conscious memory goes back to; must be to at least the heart of the 'Fever' era as I remember those videos constantly being on the music channels. Anyway, it really captured what made me fall in love with pop music. Definitely feels like it kickstarted Kylie's 'second' career, I think a lot of music lovers of a certain age would assume she was a new artist.

Totally agree with you re: 'Disco'. It's a shame that this chart battle has brought out the worst in some people but I try not to associate myself with it. This era has brought us so much and I reckon it'll go down as one of my favourites. It's proven that the singles chart is by no means the only measure of success or relevancy - how many other pop artists this far into their career can still be on every promo slot going and cause a huge sea of media interest with each new album?

You wrote such beautiful words, Jay!

Yeah, this is an excellent piece on Kylie. Very in-depth, well-researched, with great quotes from HERR, Tom Aspaul (!), and Alice Chater. There are so many facets to her 33-year career, and this piece covers a lot of them.

I just feel so lucky lucky lucky as a fan, that Kylie is still here, she still wants to make new music, she's making AMAZING music, and she's providing joy and light during one of the most difficult years globally.

So no Kylie Interview on BBC Breakfast.

Strange because Kylie's team emailed a mailout saying their was......

Edit: unless she has the 9-9.15 slot as she hasn't been advertised yet on the channel.

Wow, Disco could be her second German no 1. Fever was on top when CGYOOMH was no 1, but there's no chart entry for any Disco single. It took a long time for Kylie to become an album seller with no hit single at all.
Would be good if she could get a bit more international attention again. Always helps with sales etc

Thanks for sharing the article Jay and both you and Liam.k.....thank you for sharing your insightful views of Kylie.

Look, Disco is a brilliant addition to her catalogue and I hope it’s commercially successful but each of her albums have a special place in my heart, doesn’t matter how much they sell. The music business is tough and sustaining physical sales is tougher, despite vinyl’s reasonable growth and niche cassette sales. I just hope Disco has some longevity because the week one frenzy is a step up from Golden, which seemed to have number one in the bag from the first midweeks.

Pleased they’ve not succumbed to price discounts but instead added value with signed options. It makes me sad that people think £15 is expensive for a CD when they were all £12.99 through the 90s. No one wants to pay for anything and it’s because of the desperate discounts record companies started giving late 90s in reaction to illegal file sharing.

I think £15 is expensive only because the standard is £9.99

HMV is £16.99 and £10.99

Why are 4 bonus songs that couldn't get on main album £5 and £6 more expensive..... The packing is a bit different, yes the Kylie store on is muchbetter but I think 10.99 and 13.99 would be better price

That said we all need to make money so cool

Let's hope signed black LPs on HMV today. It's her lowest seller so they could shift a few with some more prints. The blue Vinyl is obviously selling like hotcakes

So BBC Breakfast interview didn't happen. I am guessing it is pre recorded already. Maybe it has moved to next week to get some promo for week two
