Disgraceful showing. Not even letting the man answer the questions and berating someone whose country has been torn apart, and clearly still will be at a threat if peace is agreed on Putin's terms, by making him say how grateful he is to them. That is pure bullying behaviour.

All of this complete music to Putin's ears.

I think like Iz says, there's a real opportunity for the UK here. Clearly we have a special relationship with the US and I do think Trump at least respects us and craves the value and probably Starmer

Honestly. This is one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever seen in my life. I have second hand embarrassment from watching Trump and Vance act like a couple of Karen’s screaming at a 17 year old manager coz their McDonald’s fries aren’t hot enough

Pretty wild exchanges between the Trump camp and Zelenskyy today. They clearly don’t like or trust each other yet are supposed to be on the same side.

They’re not on the same side tho and today even further proved that Trump is and always has been a Russian asset

That "discussion" is one of the most embarrassing things I can remember, and yet there are Americans claiming that Trump is acting like a strong leader. At the end Trump actually said "to be honest", not a concept he is familiar with. Trump opens his gob for two things - to stuff another burger in it, or to lie.

Quite a lot of them have, Zelensky's been thanking them all on his twitter, and it's a list of most European leaders.

Notably not Starmer yet though of course given it was just yesterday he had a good meeting with Trump and has been clearly walking the line between America and Ukraine, being forced to choose so soon is difficult to thread.

I feel like lots of people who talk shit about the international order are going to find out very soon that a troublemaker superpower that upends diplomatic relationships like they were nothing is quite a bit worse.

god I hate that Putin is pleased with what happened tonight

Truly disgusting. Those fascist bully boys were unbelievable. At lesst they've gone mask off r.e Russia, and the world csn see thst they sre Ruddian assetd. That lie abiut 130 billion is just cringe inducing. It was always cheaper to send those old armaments - and degrade Russia!!! - than to decommission it. USA was getting an absolute bargain, and rhe money "spent" was withib the US, to replenish old stocks with new.

Europe should join together and chase Europe our of Ukraine, like Russia and China did vs the US in North Korea.

Of course they don't trust each other. Putin is clearly Trump's blindspot. And of coruse, Trump hates Zelensky for not throwing Hunter Biden

A really awkwad exchange. Genuonely thought Zelensky was going to lump Vance.

I’d love to lump Vance the sleezeball, totally bewildered by the press conference can’t stop watching it and wondering where the world goes from here. Think WW3 isn’t far off now. I mean if European troops end up on the ground as part of the ceasefire it’s only a letter of time before European warfare.

It is interesting this demand Ukraine pay every penny back and essentially trying to extort them. Compare that to how America treats Israel. Unlimited weapons and money and nothing ever asked for in return with the red carpet always rolled out. Ukraine should be looking for a deal to end the war and should have been a long time ago but losing their natural resources doesn’t sit right with me. They were promised security in exchange for giving up their nuclear weapons.

I think Ukraine want to end the war, but they want America to be an ally if Russia were to ever try attacking again, which they 100% will. Europe clearly have intelligence that Russia will regroup and try again to capture Ukraine, be that in 12 months or 12 years. Agree it's hypocritical of Trump toplay the peace card whilst funding Israel.

I'm still absolutely bewildered at the press conference. Part of the issue is Trump is treating this as a business deal, infact the whole administration is treating politics as a business. Not sure I can see World War 3, as I don't think Russia have the appetite for it just yet, but it is clear they are not done.

JD Vance is a pathetic bully; clearly antagonising a man who after 3 years of relentless and brutal war is broken. I wouldn't have blamed him for reacting even more aggresively than he did, he did well to hold it (mostly) together tbh. For the US President to start reciting Krelim propanganda is something I'd never thought I'd see in my lifetime, grimly depressing and predictable though it was given Trump's reelection. I did predict in 2024 that should Trump win then he would accelerate the decline of America, and I'll bet China will be more than happy to take advantage of this squandering of soft power.

This is the moment for Europe to unite and break its ties to America. It's America alone now.

Surely Putin has to die sometime soon? He's not a young guy

I never really like talking like this even if it is about horrible people but he’s like 68 I think so he won’t be there beyond the 2020s you’d think, most Russians health is poor post-70yo too given the climate and lifestyles. Always think of boys in the Cold War era like Brezhnev who were basically gormless robots by the end who were being propped up by the commissars

Again, the contrast between the US and the UK, pretty clear which one is the statesman. Potentially looking like the UK is taking the lead now with this weekend's summit and with America failing us.

The fact that the end of Starmer's meeting with Zelenskyy has been shown is very telling. It is a very clear sign of Starmer distancing himself from the orange blob on this issue, notwithstanding the love-in earlier in the week.

I think like Iz says, there's a real opportunity for the UK here. Clearly we have a special relationship with the US and I do think Trump at least respects us and craves the value and probably Starmer too. I think it helps Starmer will be Prime Minister throughout Trump's term too. But there is a real soft power play here, which I think suits us domestically and internationally too and to almost be the bridge to the US.

Be interesting to see how the conference goes tomorrow. Seems like Trump's blindspot and I do think he genuinely wants a deal (which he thinks makes the US money). Vance is an absolute prick though, he tried the same thing with Starmer. Would love to see how he and Putin have a debate about free speech.

He's an utterly vile fascist. Worse than Trump!
